Nisus Writer enables a variety of other selection methods.
When you find a text selection using the Find/Replace tool Nisus Writer selects what you find. When you click FIND ALL in the Find/Replace window or choose Find All from the Find/Replace menu of the Tools menu, Nisus Writer noncontiguously selects all instances of what it finds. When you jump to a marker Nisus Writer selects the marked selection. When you press SHIFT and jump to a marker Nisus Writer selects all the text between the insertion point and the marked selection.
Press COMMAND and you can select text by clicking and dragging in background windows.

You can learn more about these methods on pages 110, 152 and 453 of the Nisus Writer 5.1 manual.
