2.1.1 Update

We are working on yet another update to 2.1. This one will include a number of additional bug fixes and speed improvements. Hopefully this will be the last “fixer” update; there are a number of UI enhancements I am really itching to put into place.

So does this mean the reported bugs like backspacing to the start of a paragraph changes the paragraph format will be fixed?

How about the bug/feature that you can’t overlap two character styles – except the built in italic/bold?

Paragraph spacing when importing NisusWriter files?

Putting bug reports in is rather casting in the dark, there seems to be no feedback at all, and as the email confirmations don’t even include the bug you quickly lose track of what you’ve reported.

    Cheers,
    Nigel

I’ve found Nisus more responsive than most on this kind of thing, but a proper database in which we could see the status of issues would be nice.

Any chance that there will be Open Type support?

  4. What specifically are you looking for in OpenType? We should support OpenType fonts to the same extent that Mac OS X supports OpenType fonts.

Linguist’s software multi-lingual font packages (with a keyboard) are precisely what I have in mind. The ease of use is extraordinary. Mellel currently supports these fonts though it is otherwise an inelegant word processor.

  6. So, what does not work now? You should be able to use the special keyboards and fonts just fine.

I am working with the font OdysseaU (a Greek font) with the GreekLS Classical OT keyboard. Some characters (such as final sigma most especially) do not work as they should (For example if I type the Greek word “logos” in this font and keyboard the final “s” cannot be correctly typed in Nisus). Rather I have to revert to the “deadkey” system of entry which effectively negates the OT keyboard and its benefits.

There are two things that prevent me to move to NisusWriter.
    1. When I open styles from MS Word I get garbled style names. I have years of documents with styles, and no time to do any sort of manual fixing.
    2. Hyphens are not working properly.
I truly hope that both things are addressed soon!

Open type support would be nice: Ligatures, real small caps swash, fractions, Lining and Proportional figures, old style figures, real superscripts and subscripts, the list goes on.
