OASIS File Formats

Now that the OpenDocument formats have been accepted as "official" standards by OASIS, and OpenOffice is also moving towards ISO recognition, I think it would be nice for Nisus Writer to be able to produce an OpenDocument WP file as an export option (or perhaps as a more "open" d...

This 2.5 release (alpha 2) is very nice. Quite spry and attractive looking (though I would really love it if you guys came up with a non-fugly "save" toolbar button). Also, I'd love to see what this would look like with the "unified" title/toolbar look in Tiger. I've recently com...

Is it possible that Apple is trying to split the difference between Word and a page layout application? At any rate, I bought it (mostly for Keynote) and I'm interested in seeing what it's like. I'm an academic writer in the humanities, so my needs out of a word processor are fairly meager—I need t...

Minor graphical glitch in 1.1.2

Even though I've told the program not to in the Preferences, NWE 1.1.2 still highlights automatic numbers. Nothing big, just thought you all should know.

The problem with Mellel is that it's a hideous eyesore. I like Metal, but it uses Metal in a very non-standard, hideously ugly way. I want my word processor to stay out of my way. Nisus, even with the featureset of a mentally challenged gopher, does that. I only want three things from Nisus: 1. Foot...

Make that footnotes and user-definable styles, and I'll be very happy.

Thanks. That solves the "native format" problem. Unfortunately, that's the least of my troubles. It's quite tedious using a word processor that doesn't have styles support, and I can't use it for my University work because it has no footnotes. Sigh. I really want to be using this full-time...

Not what it could be, but a solid start

With just a few more features, this could displace Microsoft Word as my main word processor: 1. Styles. Must have styles. Hand-formatting each section is not an option, it's a waste of time. 2. Smart Quotes, Apostrophes. I mean, come one. AppleWorks does this. 3. Footnotes. Can't use it for schoolwo...
