Re: Upgrade to 3.0 costs money?!

I agree. As i said earlier, I will NEVER pay for the "upgrade", and nisus lost a customer (and not only one, i presume...). Tough. My Nisus experience was like this -- maybe Nisus might learn something: 1) Bought Nisus Express around January this year and was extremely pleased; I even ema...

Re: upgrade window

many thanks. my wife will now be re-endeared. i, on the other hand, after years of waiting in vain for the ability to add comments to my documents, have given up and have moved back to Word. Page 08 is pretty good for comments. I believe it can even open commented Word docs, which is a first for an...

Re: I'm kind of p'd off

Every morning when I would write reports for court or DSS I'd get that message about upgrading.... and so I downloaded Nisus 3.0 -- didn't even really know that was its number. But I didn't install it. So I'd still get those annoying upgrade reminders. So this morning... with a report to finish to ...

Re: new version window

my wife is a user of express 2.7. she doesn't want to upgrade to 3.0. is there a way we can stop that upgrade notice window from appearing every time she starts NWE? It's pretty annoying and is not endearing nisus to her. Why not a "don't show this notice again" version? I've just checked...

On the same topic, is there anywhere that the 2.7 version can be re-downloaded for those of us who have installed 3.0 but don't want to pay the upgrade fee? Or isn't this an option? Never mind - I've found it. Version 2.7 (and older versions) can be found here: http://www.nisus.com/Express/oldversi...

Jeff, I haven't seen the error message you're talking about (I might do should I be able to return to 2.7), but I susp...

Express is not "out of date". It's simply that there are now two products - Express and Pro - and each is aimed at a different type of user. As far as I can see, there are three products: Nisus Express 2.7 Nisus Express 3.0 Nisus Pro 1.1 I still have 2.7 installed on my system because I r...

I agree that three years of free upgrades to NWX 2 was a generous policy. Actually, I was surprised that Nisus continued NWX at all. I think that a reasonable business strategy for a small company would have been to offer only the $49.00 upgrade to the much more powerful NWP. Supporting one program...

Nisus did just that right through version 2. Each new release contained bug fixes and new features. I do not think that being asked to pay a small amount to upgrade to version 3 is irresponsible As I said, there are always people who will act as apologists for products they like. What matters here ...

So, let me get this straight. You're happy to pay a reasonable sum to buy the software in the first instance. However, you're unhappy to pay for an updated version, at a price that's a lot less than a decent night out, after seven free updates. And in the meantime, Nisus is supposed to survive on n...

I can't recall any information from Nisus that might have led you to believe that NWX upgrade would be free - aside from the fact that all previous upgrades since 1.0 was released were. There's nothing I need add to this. NWX is not just a bugfix release, it contains several new features and is the...

Upgrade to 3.0 costs money?!

Nisus Express 2.7 user here. I've been semi-active on this forum reporting bugs, one of which (at least) I've been told is incorporated into 3.0. The way the guys from Nisus talked here, I got the impression the step up to 3.0 would be free of charge. Sadly, in one of those illogical business decisi...

Does that explain why the fonts in Pages 08 look washed out? They don't actually appear black, but more charcoal grey (especially serif fonts). Compared side by side, fonts in Nisus are dark black. Text within Pages 08 looks like a photocopy on which somebody has set the brightness level of the copy...

No, this is happening in Page View. Start a new document, switch to Palatino font, and type gpqpgpqpgpqgp. The spell checker can hide the missing descenders, so try a few words like peg, goggles, gap and so on. This is at default zoom of 120%. You'll find the descenders are missing, usually until a ...

Descenders and letters not appearing correctly

The most annoying bug that Nisus has, for me, is that some sometimes descenders are chopped off, unless I insert a blank line below the current text. This happens with my favourite font: Palatino. Additionally, sometimes when scrolling or deleting, pixels are often left behind before being hastily d...
