Re: Repagination effect on index item page numbers
I use the Index feature to create a Table of Authorities for legal briefs. That means I have to create separate sections for Statutes, Cases, Constitutions, etc. As I do that, the Index gets longer or shorter, depending. I would like to Rebuild it by updating Page Content only, so I don't lose all m...

Re: Can you build a table of authorities with Nisus Writer?
Hi Vanceone, I've always made TOA in NWP by highlighting the Jones in People v. Jones for the index, copying the full cite (People v. Jones (1884) blah blah) into the "Index as" box, then hitting Mark all. Boom -- all instances of People v. Jones, Jones, or the full cite will appear in you...

Re: Legal Pleading Paper Help
Holy Moly, Martin -- thank you. I am happy to say that I was able to foist off the brief on someone with a legal secretary, who converted it to another program (hideously, laboriously) -- but I will come back to these instructions next time the issue arises. Thanks again. Cheers, Candace

Re: Legal Pleading Paper Help
Hi Martin, I see that your clever watermark page works beautifully --- but I can't see how to use it for more thanthe first page of a document. I have a 70 page brief I need to get onto pleading paper. It has different sections, with different headers. When I paste it into the pleading template, onl...

Re: NW for iPad?
Ahhh, I see. When mrennie said NWP would open the doc seamlessly, I didn't understand it needed to be in Word format. Thanks for walking me through this bit by bit. (Sheesh......)

Re: NW for iPad?
Well, alas, it turns out that NWP does not open Pages docs seamlessly. Pages was able to open the Nisus doc exported as Word binary file -- with some formatting snafus -- but when I e-mailed it back to myself as a Pages doc and asked NWP to open it, I got a dialogue box that said it could only open ...

Re: NW for iPad?
That sounds heartening. I exported to Word binary as advised, but Dropbox couldn't open it at all. Now I've moved it into Pages manually (via USB cord), and tomorrow will see how that works. I'm assuming that Nisus will be able to open the Pages doc once I finish on the iPad and send it back to the ...

Re: NW for iPad?
Thanks for the tip -- I will give it a try. I do know that saving as a Word doc (in Nisus) doesn't work, so it never occurred to me that exporting would.

Re: NW for iPad?
Pages desktop version recognizes Nisus files and opens them without too much formatting carnage, so I got the Pages app, hoping it would do the same. Ha! Of course it doesn't. Doesn't even open them. So now I am wondering if I take a Nisus file, save it to Word (yes, I know that's not enough), then ...

Re: NW for iPad?
I don't have any idea when the NWP upgrade is coming out, and from what Martin said earlier about no plans for Nisus iPad in the works, I'd be surprised --- but what do I know? From your lips to God/dess's ears (by which I mean the ears of the Nisus Powers That Be. My life would be hugely enriched b...

Re: NW for iPad?
P. S. I just read that Pages has a File > Export option to save in Word. Okay, if it can do that, then NWP will be able to open the Word doc, yes? And then I will have a Nisus document! No?

Re: NW for iPad?
Well, I did buy an iPad. And I would still like to be able to: 1) see my Nisus docs -- which I gather Docs to Go and Dropbox will let me do; 2) Create text Nisus will recognize when I transfer it to my Macbook -- which I gather the Notes app resident on the iPad will let me do. But I still need to b...

Re: NW for iPad?
I was (am) interested in having something more mobile (and a lot cheaper!) than a Macbook Air -- so, for instance I could use a bird identification app in the field, a slow down music app at my banjo lesson, etc. etc. I know an iPad is not a proper computer; I'd still like to be able to do some word...

Re: NW for iPad?
I am so sad to see that you wise ones have not found a solution to the iPad problem. I have been going crazy trying what items or combo of items will meet my needs: Kindle ( clear, non back-lit reading quality, but no good for reading .pdfs), iPod Touch (want apps for banjo practice and bird identif...
