Re: Switching to Nisus Writer Pro & NWP 2
I agree that the lack of reassurance about the free upgrade is disappointing--it also seems to be of apiece with their secrecy regarding what features NWP 2 will include. In any case, I write to endorse the suggestion that the Nisus folks should publicly address this. Or perhaps a stated policy seem...

Re: Development pace
@craigminah Such feature requests and bug reports are all over the place around here—sometimes the Nisus people respond to them and often they don't; I suspect this forum is less about 'complaining' than it is about seeing how things are going at Nisus--these fora were once more active as was the de...

ouch... looks like 10.7--as the tea leaves might suggest--will be bringing some of iOS (or whatever it's called) to the Mac. Hate it. One hopes they will stop there, but...

Future of NWP (+Bookends)
I was very happy (in late summer of 2009) to help test the improved integration of Bookends with NW; this solution has worked out the best for my scholarship (and I'm sure many others agree)--it removes two very unpleasant things that most people still associate with writing: fighting with Word and ...

Re: viewing footnotes/endnotes
Martin--I have the sense that people have wanted this for quite some time. Is it on the list of things to do? AIs there something about this feature that makes it very hard to implement? I love draft view, but the lack of footnote support makes it much less useful. Otherwise, I'd probably rarely lea...

Re: Zotero and Nisus
A ticket has been created by Zotero developers regarding the problems with the RTF scan. I urge the Nisus folks--who probably know best why their implementation of RTF works a bit differently from the rest--to give it a look.

Zotero and Nisus
Zotero, an excellent open source citation manager (though that designation doesn't really do justice to what it does--http://www.zotero.org/), has implemented RTF scan functionality. While still in beta, it seems to work very well (for example, when changing between parenthetical citation styles and...

Re: Zotero—Nisus
Zotero has added rtf citation scan. Still under development, so it's not perfect, but looks like a solution. I don't like writing in Word and I don't like using Bookends or Sente, so this is the makings of a very good solution for me--hopefully for others too. http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/696...

How about integration with Zotero? New plug-in architecture should make it easy.

Wow. That was easy and has brought me to a higher level of Mac-love. Adobe Garamond Pro 4-eva.
Thanks, Martin.

Bug? endnote numbering will not stay
I have my endnotes set to appear at the end of each section (chapter) of a book-length manuscript. It does this well. The numbers are set to restart with each section. However, when I close the document and reopen it, the numbers are once more continuous.

Re: Desired NWP1.2 Features
@xiamenese Bookends isn't bad. I tried Sente once or twice and it seemed to have a lot of weird quirks, where Bookends was a bit more predictable. However, apart from the incompleteness of styles (and the requirement that you, the user, complete them), Bookends' MLA style --one of the main style gui...

Re: Desired NWP1.2 Features
Citation manager integration. I like scottwhitlock's suggestion for a CWYW interface. Now that Endnote works with Word 2008, without VBA (I haven't tried it though...) this should be relatively easy. I don't think Bookends would support CWYW, and in any case, the styles the developer provides--at le...

Re: Zotero—Nisus
One more idea: If you're running Leopard, using Exposé also might help... In one Expose section you can keep Nisus and in the next you can place Firefox--a key stroke can take you back and forth easily... Great on a laptop.
