Re: To Markdown macro
As a matter of interest, I have found that not all Markdown apps are created equal: they vary widely in how they receive pasted RTF. Some will receive it as plain text whereas others will attempt to convert italic and bold into styled MD. I have found that Paper does the best job of doing exactly th...

Re: To Markdown macro
Thanks again martin. My mistake, or possibly a limitation of the conversion: I had inadvertently italicised the leading spaces before the italic and bold words, so the underscore/asterisks preceded the spaces and not the words, which was enough to defeat the MD display. Now I understand this I can b...

Re: To Markdown macro
Hi Martin, it seems that your macro is leaving spaces between the leading asterisk/underscore and the words converted into italic and bold which defeats the MD styling. (I have only just noticed this because I have spent most of the day compiling it into a much longer KM macro and solving other prob...

Re: To Markdown macro
Thank you martin, that's fantastic. It does exactly what I need, including leaving the converted text selected.
Thanks too for the explanation about the difficulty of working with selections. Makes perfect sense.
All the best,
Nick

Re: To Markdown macro
Thank you for this very useful macro tomoyuki and martin.
How difficult would it be to adapt it to work on selected text only, and to leave the selection active on completion?
I have made some attempt to do this myself, but I am hitting various brick walls.

Re: Links between documents
No need for apology philip: glad of any advice and corrections. I unaccountably missed the ? delimiter. But if I add it as part of the URL used for Link destination in a Nisus link, I still get a dialogue asking me to confirm the location of the file, and when I do that it still does not take me to ...

Re: Links between documents
Thanks very much for responding Martin. If I understand you correctly, the format of the URL should be file://[Unix file path including leading slash]#[Bookmark Name] or
file://[Unix file path including leading slash]page=[page number] In both cases, if I invoke this in a Nisus URL link, I get an a...

Re: Links between documents
Thanks for opening up a new perspective Þorvarður. Despite being an intensive Nisus user for countless years, I have never explored macros, and I now see how much I have been missing. It has taken me a while to find the time to experiment with your macros, which accounts for the delay in replying. I...

Links between documents
Am I right or wrong in believing that bookmarks in one Nisus document cannot be referenced by cross-references in another? If this is not currently supported, is it already a feature request? And another: Nisus Writer Pro works very nicely with Hook —on the document level, i.e. Hook can establish li...

Re: Help needed: palette out of reach
I had an issue with palettes when I first ran version 3: my floating palettes (same selection, same arrangement as V2) were greyed and it was impossible to interact with them. This problem persisted through restarts of the app (and Mac). The solution was to choose Window > Palettes > Show Floating P...

Re: Left hand margin in Draft View
Thanks for the creative thinking Martin; that makes three workarounds, including mine, but none of them is really a substitute for a touch of polish to the interface. I don't think it even needs to be a preference—I would be almost as happy if the existing draft view margin was doubled; that would s...

Left hand margin in Draft View
Is there any way to increase the left hand margin in Draft View? It appears that irrespective of the margin set in Page View, Draft View will display text about 17 pixels from the left hand edge. I find that this makes for uncomfortable reading, and detracts from the purpose of Draft View. It is pos...

Re: Scrolling in full-screen mode
I'd like to add a vote for optional typewriter scrolling, in draft view as well as full screen. Let me explain. I have been running one of my periodic looking-through-Mac-writing-software stints, and as always I have come to the conclusion that there is far more excellent software than any one perso...

Thanks Martin. I see the logic of this position, but I’d be grateful if you would bring it up again, because I believe that there are cogent counter-arguments: • The same reasons for the desirability of colour options in draft view (relieving eye strain, obscure psychological preferences) apply just...

Sorry, but there is no way to change the background color in Page view. Only the Draft and Full Screen views allow for this. The question as I understand it was not can you do it now, but is it likely to be possible in the future? Myself I would cheerfully swap half of the existing color customizab...
