Re: NW for iPad?
Could I make an attempt to reinvigorate this thread? Having NWP for iPad would be a – huge – boon for me, but for the moment I'd already been helped tremendously by something that can process and edit .RTF files. I'm presently using markdown, but that really means that I can't properly format things...

Re: Support for Markdown
Hi, the macro doesn't seem to work flawlessly in NWP 2; the Markdown text" Let’s see whether **Markdown** works on this thing, *shall we*? Is rendered into: Let’s see whether *Markdown* works on this thing, shall we ? It appears that everything inbetween asterisks is boldized. Using single aste...

Re: App Store & NWP?
For those of us on the forums the MAS makes little sense. For businesses it makes no sense. For those with family packs with a wife, mom, dad, son or daughter that use NWP that does not know this place exists, it makes perfect sense. They can open the MAS and instantly install NWP and not worry abo...

Re: NW for iPad?
Just a tip: don't use Pages, use Docs to Go or QuickOffice connect on the iPad: both of them will do RTF (and properly), and both will sync with Dropbox. I have my Nisus documents folder on Dropbox, and I can access that with Docs to Go. Works like a dream. Between Docs 2 Go and Quickoffice Connect...

Ref manager question: from Bookends to Sente, and Nisus
Hi all, I hope this isn't wildly off topic because I'd really like some input here. I'm thinking of switching from Bookends to Sente. Bookends has served me well, but the interface isn't ideal and, next to a much better interface, Sente offers some features that I could really use, such as proper sy...

Re: What about: "Export/Save as ePub"
Nah. In my view, Apple dropped the ball in a major way when releasing Pages for iPad. Image captions is one thing, but the absence of footnotes is a deal-breaker for me. I mainly use the Pad on the road, during workshops, in archives, and so forth. But if I spend 8 euros on a word processor, I do wa...

Re: What about: "Export/Save as ePub"
Paolo, that's not entirely true. Both share a dependency on predefined templates, and some degree of interchangeability between the two. It's not perfect (by far), but it sorta works. For me as a science writer, Nisus' two main rivals are Mellel and Pages. Don't like Mellel because of the not very i...

Re: Would you want Nisus Writer to support the ePub file format?
I think that the desirability to publish in ePub has increased dramatically over the past few months. To me, it would be a USP for Nisus, and a good reason to justify its wider use at our (and I would imagine a number of other) institutes.

Re: Problem with scanning Bookends citations
After some contact with the Nisus support people, the problem got solved - and many, many thanks for that! The main issue turned out to be a problem with a 600MB+ file (due to the strange way in which RTF handles images). The Bookends issue required a re-install, but now works fine. No clue what cau...

Re: Problem with scanning Bookends citations
Things seem to be steadily deteriorating. Nisus now crashes on ANY attempt to save a document that contain citations: Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000088ac5000 Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread Thread 0 Crashed: Dispatc...

Re: Reducing font list
And I can heartily recommend Linotype's free Font Explorer (see: http://www.fontexplorerx.com/home/. They'll try to flog FontExplorer Pro, but if you go to the downloads section the free version is still available), which does the same thing as Apple's Font Book (but much, much better) and a lot of ...

Re: Problem with scanning Bookends citations
Thanks for the tips sofar. At least Nisus now connects to Bookends (after I updated Bookends), but although they seem to go through all the right moves (processing in bookends, being asked which format I'd like the bibliography in, Bookends ostensibly scanning the document, etc.) I still don't get a...

Problem with scanning Bookends citations
Hi all, I recently (as in: last week) switched from Mellel to Nisus Writer Pro. The whole thing has gone pretty smoothly, save for one thing. When I start to scan my citations (via Bookends) my 'processing in Bookends' progress bar halts at about one third and then does nothing. It has been sitting ...
