Re: Crash, Crash, Crash

AS a note, I was getting a lot of crashes until I disabled the new Apple predictive text system in the system preferences. I am on the most recent Nisus and Sonoma .3.1. I haven't updated to Sonoma .4 yet. I think that bug from before has not quite been squashed yet. Maybe this beta version has more...

Document assembly

Greetings all, I have suddenly been given a bunch of work where I essentially have to create a standard template document and change it for each client. This involves a bunch of fill in the blank stuff, like "Contract cost" and the like. This would be simple enough as a merge document, but...

Re: Paste without Crash (AppleScript)

Hmm... the release notes for Nisus 3.4 were pretty sparse. Did not mention any SVG changes. Was that part of the general Sonoma bug fix suite?

Re: Using images as cell background

Setting transparency would be easy in the original graphic program used to create the image; if not any graphic program can fade it to 20% transparent or so.

Re: Ventura -- QuickKeys limitation

Is this the accessibility command that allows full keyboard control of the computer; so you can select a menu with (default) control -F2? Once you do that I think you can tab through the menus and arrow down to select an option. Is this not working in Ventura? I'd suggest toggling that system prefer...

Re: Using Mac dictation with Nisus

Ah, dictation. I miss Dragon Dictate as well. Apple's built in service works.... sort of. It doesn't do formatting commands, like 'new paragraph' or the like. And the second you touch a key on the keyboard it stops. Since it moved to an online service, you have to pause in your dictation and let it ...

Re: Scientific Macro

The best mathematical typesetting, by far, is via LaTex. What I find works is to install a LaTex suite, (MacTex is preferred) and then the program "LaTexIt" which is designed to allow you to do math including fractions and then insert them into other apps. I just tried it out again. It doe...

Comparing Nisus Classic to Nisus Writer Pro

Greetings all, So I was wondering: Nisus Classic when it left off was a very powerful word processor. I believe Nisus essentially started from scratch in building the OS X version (as I recall, Nisus Writer Express came first a few years before Pro came out as they rebuilt it). So, now that it has b...

Can we add some Indexing features?

Dear Nisus folks: Is it possible to add an option to use the word "Passim" to the indexing options? This is frequently used in legal table of authorities if a citation is on multiple pages; usually at least 4 times. Passim, of course, would replace the page number in the index one would us...

You are welcome Martin!

It's nice to be able to help you out instead of having you always answer our questions for a change! Happy to do it. I hope the address change "sticks" too.

Try here: Well, I can give you a list of everywhere to check for your address that you can access. for iPhone settings>Wallet & Apple Pay>transaction defaults>address - edit as needed. Wallet>first card(check all cards)>tap three dots in corner>billing address-adjust as needed settings>your name...

Re: Absolutely frustrating behaviour of pictures and text boxes

One problem I've noticed is that the layout engine has issues when it tries to reflow a paragraph and a picture. If there is space on the page for the paragraph, in a normal paragraph it works fine. Add a picture that floats inline or with paragraph, and suddenly it has to put the picture on the pag...

Re: Error message using Nisus on a Synology NAS

If all you need is a shared folder to save files to, (including nested folders) then maybe try Syncthing. It's like setting up a personal DropBox while avoiding the cloud. It's what I keep client files on to transfer between my laptop and desktop without letting any large company get their grubby pa...

Martin, maybe try logging into your Apple ID account on apple.com? They contain addresses there, I think. Perhaps the old address exists there?

Re: Scrolling bug?

Not using typewriter or synchronized scrolling. I think you are asking if the part that bounces is to the top of the page, not the viewport top. That answer is no. I frequently run a zoom level of 150% or 200%, so the entire page is almost never entirely visible. Thus, the "viewport" or th...
