Can't seem to create a new template
This may have to do with my earlier posts about a bad migration from one user account to a new one, and having to copy a lot of Nisus settings and such from one account to another. Now, I'm on a new MacBook Pro entirely, with no easy access to anything on the old Mac, although I still can fire it up...

Re: Setting up Nisus Writer in a second account
Aha! So, it was your fault!
I'll post soon if I succeed in migrating to my new user (my old one is FUBAR). Meanwhile, I've just succeeded in recovering my database of software registration keys—hallelujah!

Re: Setting up Nisus Writer in a second account
One problem: There is no such folder on my Mac. ~/Library/Containers/com.nisus.NisusWriter/Data/Library/Application Support/Nisus Writer Pro/Settings/ I see no folder called com.nisus.NisusWriter in Containers, and there is no Containers folder in the system Library folder. What are the files you th...

Re: Setting up Nisus Writer in a second account
That helps a lot! Thanks. I think I can manage things now that I know where they all are.

Set up NWP in second Mac account, copy settings
Having problems with NWP in my main account. However, in a clean Test account, NWP runs fine. Next question: Is there an easy way to transfer NWP settings, Kbd shortcuts, styles, and macros to my new Test account?

Re: Sonoma compatibility
I'll look for beta4; thanks. But after 2 hours at an Apple Store I'm fairly certain that my problem is some malicious or malfunctioning software that I've installed. After 38 years as a Mac user, I've got a LOT of cruft on my machine. I think I disabled about 60-70 items in Login Items, and there we...

Re: Sonoma compatibility
On my Intel Macbook Air, I encountered the reported problems with NWP and auto-completion while running Sonoma 14.1; NWP was crashing. I tried the first beta, and for a while, I seemed OK. Then Nisus began hanging, and I was unable to relaunch. Upgraded to 14.2, still having problems. Upgraded NWP t...

Re: Use of Grammarly in Nisus WRiter Pro
Answering my own question! Turns out I had not installed the most recent version of Grammarly for Mac. When I did, it began showing up in Nisus Writer Pro as well as Pages, Word, and my browser and email apps.

Use of Grammarly in Nisus WRiter Pro
I've been writing in NWP for a very long time. Recently I've begun using Grammarly to check my punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Grammarly can be used in many applications on the Mac, including Word, Pages, and Apple Mail. I would very much like to be able to use it in NWP. Apparently, Grammarly m...

Re: In a macro, remove formatting from a text variable
I’m working with a document much like a Bible, with Chapter numbers, Paragraph numbers, and sentence numbers. I’m taking a selection of one or more sentences and using searches to extract a reference that ends up looking like this:" T-3.IV.4:2–7”. The problem I am trying to solve is that portio...

In a macro, remove formatting from a text variable
I have a macro that builds a text string, copying parts from a formatted document. I want to remove all formatting except styles from the variable, not from a selection within the document. The menu command would affect the entire document which is not at all desirable. This is probably very simple,...

Replacing text in a text object
I've posted a question about a Find, but not with Replace, and somehow I can't seem to get it to work. I have a text object, $text, containing a paragraph of text where the first word of each sentence is preceded by a one-or-two digit number, e.g., "5The next...". I want to remove all the ...

Re: Extract digits from a text object
Thank you lots for this extensive and detailed explanation! At first I tried all the variations and they all failed. After a LONG time and many tries, I finally realized that, in copying your code from the forum, the quotation marks came through as double smart quotes. I used your first example, cha...

Re: Extract digits from a text object
Alternatively, I could use a find & replace operation that would replace "Lesson " with "W-", resulting in "W-29".
