Re: This gets me thinking...
You know, this post, especially the last two replies, has gotten me thinking. I have never come across a decent book on using your Mac for education, surprising since so many college professors, secondary and primary educators, etc. use the Macintosh on a daily basis. If not a book, I would even li...

Those would be great additions. By the way, your avatar is kind of freaking me out.midwinter wrote:To which I should add:
The major feature requests I've noticed for 3.0 have been outlining, TOC generation, image handling, more sophisticated table options (e.g. cell padding and spacing) and Bookends integration.

Here's another one: I just opened a Word doc that was sent to me, it opens fine as 13 pages in Word, but is 6 pages when opened in Nisus, with every other page blank. Saving it as RTF in Word first actually made it worse, then it was completely blank. (I'm using Word X) No other problems on my compu...

problems with opening file in Word
I've got a simple document with 3 footnotes. When I opened it in word, one of my footnotes is invisible. It appears if I save as a pdf, although the footnote is placed on the wrong page.
Are these normal issues in opening rtf's in Word?

change space between text and footnotes?
Is there a way to change the space between the text and where the line begins that separates the footnotes? Right now they are too close together.

1. Click in any footnote. 2. Select all footnotes (Edit > Select All). 3. Apply the Footnote style (Format > Style > Footnote). When I do that, the footnote style is already checked, and when I select it, it doesn't change anything (even though my footnote style should be different). I can change t...

Thanks for your help. If anyone else works with Word and can give me a little guidance on how to use styles as in my examples above, I would greatly appreciate it. If I can't figure out an easy way to replace styles going from a Word doc to Nisus, I'm afraid I'll have to stick to the Beast. Don't ot...

a few noob questions on using styles
1. When I'm in the style sheet, how do I change the "First line indent"? I can select it, but can't figure out how to change it. 2. If I open a document with its own styles how do I attach styles from my template? Is there something equivalent to Word where you attach a template to a doc? ...

I wouldn't have a problem paying an upgrade price after such a long period either, but I would be curious about the ETA for 3.0 and whether it will be a paid upgrade for all users. I'm sure it's classified information, but I'm only asking because I haven't bought a license yet, and don't want to get...

I've read that thread about rtf export in Mellel, those are the reasons that I'm using Word instead for the time being. The reason I ask is that the Mellel developers claim that they can build a more powerful word processor by not using RTF as the native format. I'm inclined to believe them, and pro...

what are the advantages of NWE over Mellel?
I've read some of the old posts and a lot of people talk about how they don't like the Mellel interface, and how styles are difficult to use. Those factors don't really bother me much (you can turn off the brushed metal, and I'm willing to put some time in to learn an app if I'm going to use it all ...
