Howdy. Good PR on your part. For different first page header, go to the palette and select Section, and you will see about the 6th item is "Different First Page header". For even-odd page headers, go to Page Setup, In the drodown choose "Nisus Writer", and select the second otpion: "Reflect margins,...

No. And it doesn't work in 2.5 Beta either, unless you happen to be on OS X 10.4. :(

Re: SOFT RETURN still not working

To get a soft return, press SHIFT + RETURN. However, this has never worked on any version of NWE, and still is unusable in 2.5 Beta. I'm using OS X 10.3.9. Unfortunately the text layout system on 10.3 does not support soft returns. You can insert them, and they should display properly for users on ...

SOFT RETURN still not working

I have commented on this on several of the Alphas. It still does not work in NWE 2.5 Beta.

To get a soft return, press SHIFT + RETURN. However, this has never worked on any version of NWE, and still is unusable in 2.5 Beta.

I'm using OS X 10.3.9.

From someone who is downloading over dialup, any of those speeds are blazing!!!

@ 4.4 kb/sec it takes over an hour to download.

Of course, it took overnight (10 hours) to download NeoOffice/j, so....

Charles, thanks for taking the time to explain the issues related to NWE and the Intel move. It is very much appreciated. First off, your existing copies of Nisus Writer Express (and any future versions we have out by then) should just work out of the box because of Rosetta. The biggest drawback to ...

When opening NWE 2.5a4 9and earlier versions), I often get a dialog asking if I want to update to the latest styles. Most of the time I have clicked "No". Tonight, I though, Why not? So I clicked "yes". What a surprise! Not only were all my styles wiped out in 2.5, but when I closed and opened 2.1.3...

Mac on Intel - NWE?

Given all the attention today on the announcement of Macs on Intel, a few questions arise: Does Nisus feel a de javu experience similar to the "now it's OpenDoc, now it's not" events of the 1990's? Will that change have a significant impact on NWE development? Will Rosetta 'solve" most of the proble...

Hi, Charles. Yep, I know how it is done. However, it doesn't work with the 2.5a3. I will send you the file to look at what I mean. Notice that soft-return should bring the second line in the List style to the indent, but does not.

I am using 2.5a2 on 10.3.9. I had commented about the 2.1 version not having the soft return. It appears that 2.5 does not offer the soft return either. Is this planned for 2.5 or are we looking at 3?

I really like Nisus, but this is a deal breaker for me as far as using NWE for everyday jobs.

If you want the style sheets to start up that way, then go to Preferences > New Document > Advanced. Click on "Edit New File". Select the style sheet drop down, make all the changes, then switch back to Page Sheet drop down. Save the changes, close that New File. Close Preferences. Then open a new f...

Footnotes - Endnotes in RTF?

I am curious about which is better for translating to other wp - footnotes or endnotes? Or does it matter? In my mind it seems that endnotes might transfer better. I write many papers (10-100 pages) with many linguistic (Hebrew, Greek, Latin, German, English) notes. Over the past decade I have used ...

Thanks, Craig. I tried the first suggestion and it worked well ... ...well mostly. The problem comes when there are several (paragraph and character) styles in the original (with perhaps font coloring, headlines, etc.) - all of that is lost. And if there are several different paragraph styles, this ...

Pasted text not accepting styles

When I copy/paste from web pages, I try to assign a paragraph style. However, while the style drawer shows that the style is assigned, the text and paragraph attributes never change. Thus, I have "BodyTextFirst" as one style with Gentium 11 pt, with an indent of o.5 in. However, the pasted text neve...
