Re: Strange things happen when opening a PDF document into N
I have thousands of documents from previous word processors that I converted into PDFs so that I can search the entire text with DEVONThink, or Spotlight. When I open an old PDF document into NWP, some very strange things happen: ---about one in ten lines, but not all, have lost the spacing between...

Re: How to automatically apply styles to imported document?
Thanks, Mark. That is a VERY effective method. I had started groping my way forward by means of Powerfind, but your approach is much better than anything I had found this far. Many thanks, again. Francisco My pleasure. Most of my texts start life in Scrivener and are then exported to RTF and opened...

Re: How to automatically apply styles to imported document?
Use either font, colour or font-size to distinguish the headings, subheadings etc., the when you've imported it: 1) if you've used colour, put your cursor in one of the appropriate paragraphs, choose the 'colour' icon in the Status Bar at the bottom of the window, and choose "Select All" from the po...

Re: Selecting styles by keyboard
My solution to this is to have a minimal Nisus New File, the only paragraph styles being 'Footer', 'Header' and Normal'—I've modified the latter as to font and size and made fully justified—together with the default four character styles, default 'Footnote' and 'Endnote', and default list styles. Th...

Re: Problem with Section Break (No page break)
Does the paragraph following the section break have "Keep with next" and the following one "Keep together" implemented? if so, is there enough space remaining on the page for the two paragraphs? Just a thought ...

Re: Missing Style Sheets
Yes, I had this problem — if you mean templates. My solution was to click to add a custom folder to the document manager and set it to my Templates folder. My Document Manager points to a "Nisus Documents" folder in my Dropbox and the Templates folder is in that. By doing it that way, its contents a...

Re: Soft Hyphen
……I don't know wether the Soft-hyphen glyph is contained in the font. It's an old one, perhaps not (?) Maybe I should try another font ... but Adobe Jenson is soooo beautiful. I have Adobe Jenson Pro and it does include the soft hyphen (I checked using the "Show Emoji and Symbols" in the flag menu)...

Re: Soft Hyphen
Yes, the red AJenson means another font is being substituted. That's weird, because Adobe Jenson Pro includes soft-hyphens among its glyphs, so why is a substitute being called for? I have no idea. But I'd simply try highlighting that soft-hyphen, maybe including a bit of the surrounding text, then ...

Re: Best site(s) for more-or-less objective info on Macs?
I too say emphatically, "Stay clear of MacKeeper!" When it first came out, I thought it sounded useful and installed it. I ran it and it created absolute havoc on my system, Being a sensible sort of bloke, I had made a bootable back-up of the system before I installed MacKeeper, so I immediately wip...

Re: LibreOfficeImporter hanging
I tested LibreOfficeImporter to import a Word file. After the import was done, LibreOfficeImporter CPU returned to zero. Then I let the computer sleep; upon wake up, LibreOfficeImporter CPU was 0.0%. Same thing here. I too tested it like that, importing .doc's and .docx's of several pages of mixed ...

Re: Facelift?
I too see no point in changing the interface for the sake of changing the interface. As it happens, I use a mixture of drawer and floating palettes. I have the styles palette on the desktop together with the Special Characters palette, and the drawer open for anything else. I prefer the display at 1...

Re: Opening a .Pages file
Not directly; .pages is a proprietary format that Apple won't release to developers. From Pages, export your file to .doc/.docx and open that in Nisus, or if it's the previous version of Pages, export to .rtf and open that.

Re: Prevent table splitting?
Thanks, Mark. What I am looking for, which I will request, is a feature similar to Framemaker in which you can (I don't remember exactly) either set a row to keep with next/previous, or set a table to not split (in which case it splits only if it is too large to fit on a single page IIRC) or set nu...

Re: Prevent table splitting?
Hi Barbara, You have a situation that, in my perception, basically, Nisus are not going to be able to solve. NWP is page-based in its output and pages have finite dimensions, as do lines in whatever font size and interline spacing you have chosen, and paragraphs have finite dimensions including spac...

Re: Alternative Mail-apps
Þorvarður, thanks so much. I thought I had done it, but checked anyway, and no, it was set to Mail.app in the Mail preferences. I've switched it to GyazMail, so I'll see if that works.
