Re: NWP Like App for Windows?

Perhaps look at Papyrus, which is both Mac OS X and Windows. I used it for a book two years ago and it was flawless.

Re: Documents how to add and delete pages ?

Howdy and welcome to the board. I think you might be confused about how NWP works; it is a word processor, not a page layout program (like Pages from Apple). That means if you want another "page", you would need to insert a Page Break and begin typing there. As for deleting the "page&...

Re: Does this program read MS Word 1997 for IBM?

That would be Word 95, and the file format changed between then and Word 97.

Re: Good-bye AW6

NWP and Mellel both handle long documents very well. Scrivener is meant as an organization and initial writing tool, because of its flexibility, etc. The re-arrangement of material and connections allows goo "thinking-around-the-topic" type of activity as well as writing. Also, all the pie...

Re: Good-bye AW6

Mellel . Keep in mind that it has a steeper learning curve than NWP. But Mellel is unmatched for styles, auto-titles, multiple notestreams, and a very handy and useful outlining capability. And very 2.5 coming out of beta this week/early next week has very powerful cross-references. Again, I like a...

Re: Good-bye AW6

I have Nisus Writer Pro and iWork 08 (and Mellel). I use NWP for most word processing, Mellel for my academic writing, and Pages for the simple page layout stuff that I need to do. Pages (from iWork) is a cross between word processor and page layout. Thus, you can do things with images, layout, etc....

You know, Geoff, you should start a request thread for a vertical ruler! :D

BTW, I agree it would be nice to have. :)

I use both. I like NWP for the quick setup and writing feel. But, line spacing (not being able to set absolute line spacing when using superscript/subscript is problematic). Mellel gives me the control I need for academic writing, which includes Hebrew, Greek, German, and Latin. So, I see them as tw...

Have NWP launch when computer starts up

A senior moment, lasting for a long, long time.... :? I have looked in the forums and the manual, but can't seem to find the directions to set up so that NWP will launch when I start up the computer. I remember doing something like this 2-3 years ago, relatively simple. But in my old foggy brain, th...

It's actually best to set up paragraph styles that include ruler settings. That way you can maintain consistency throughout the entire document. Let's say that one paragraph style is "First Indent". If you have 75 paragraphs that all need to be the same, then set them all to this style. Wh...

Howdy. Are you using spaces for the indent? You should never use spaces, always use the rule and adjust the first line indent, even naming that as a paragraph style. Then when you hit the Return key, it will indent properly. If you want the second line indented (or all lines indented, then you set c...

Every time I start the computer, I have to go into the System Preferences > Default Apps, and change the .doc setting from Nisus to Word, because when it shuts down, for some reason the Finder changes the settings in Default Apps to Nisus. While I like Nisus, this is irritating. Repairing Permission...
