It looks like NWE also cuts off little bits of the decenders leaves them lying around. Here is an example with both the dots and a couple cut off 'g's.

Actually, I didn't mean that it happens in other Cocoa programs. I meant that this is a bug you see every once in a while in a variety of programs. I think this used to happen in some versions of Canvas, I forget what else.dennisg wrote:Oddly, I only have it in NWE -- not in TextEdit or Mariner Write.

I have had this problem in this program and I have had it in other programs, over many years. I believe what is happening is that the top of the insertion point doesn't get erased as it moves. In my experience the dots disappear whenever something happens that causes that part of the screen to get r...

Actually, I don't understand why you don't make it so any menu command can be added to the toolbar. Not a bad idea! I'm not sure what icons we would use unless we created an icon for each menu item...hm...what do you think? -C You could create unique icons for each item, but I would just create a &...

Yes, although often what I was interested in was going the other way around (e.g., setting everything that matches a certain pattern to be red). I don't think you can do that with perl, although... is there some way of handing the results of ...

Find in Macros
Is it possible to use find in macros? If so, what is the syntax? If not, make that a feature request. In Classic, PowerFind in conjunction with macros allowed you to do some cool stuff.

Yeah, I definitely get it in both. I haven't really tried opening in one and then the other to compare because it doesn't seem to be consistant even within the same application. Typically I will open a document and it looks fine and I type away for half an hour, then look back at something I typed e...

Indenting last line (not your problem but...)
I have been having a problem where, if I set the first line of a paragraph to be indented, sometimes the last line of that paragraph will also indent. This problem seems to occur in both NWE and TextEdit so it probably is Apple's fault. It also happens on both my 1.42 GHz G4 running 10.3.4 at work a...

Re: My Experience.
Would an G5 iMac, for example, make a big difference in the performance of NWX 2? Well, I have a 100 page document (albeit double spaced with no footnotes). On a dual 2 GHz G5, switching fonts and such is virtually instantaneous. Still takes a few seconds to open though. Of course I would hope that...

My feeling is that the choice in these situations is somewhat arbitrary (should the formatting be that of what comes before or comes after). In all the text editing programs I deal with I have the problem that sometimes formatting just disappears (as in the cases you mentioned) and sometimes I can't...

Sadly I have to (partially) agree with James. In particular wrt interoperability of Classic and Express, Express does not correctly import even fairly simple (no graphics, tables, headers, footers, footnotes etc.) Classic documents. While Express has developed a lot, its ability to import classic do...
