Re: Zotero—Nisus

I use Chicago footnotes as well (with no ibid...) I think this is the simplest way to prepare a manuscript, then let the publisher tell you how they want it later. All the info is there in the document. MLA with its parenthetical page number thing--sometimes I can't tell what I just cited. Bookends ...

Re: Zotero—Nisus

Another thing, RedPanda. I think for a lot of scholars Bookends (or Zotero's word plug in) might be overkill. And if you do MLA, there's still nothing that makes that any easier. For a book manuscript in MLA format you might simply make a folder for each chapter and then, combine the folders at the ...

Re: Zotero—Nisus

Yes, to put it in a more dramatic way: Word 2004 is now more advanced than it was in 2004, supporting, as it does through its VBA interface, integration with Zotero, the most powerful and easy to use citation manager ever. And Nisus will miss the boat, I am confident. Zotero developers are working o...

Re: Zotero—Nisus

Hi Red Panda,

If you look around the forums, you will find requests by both myself and someone else for such integration. Official Nisus people, as far as I recall, have never responded to these requests.

Re: Feature Request: Footnotes in Full Screen?

I think the approach Timotheus talks about would be very useful. But maybe there is a more Nisus-like option--a kind of footnote view like the one in "normal" view in Word that would be activated when creating or editing a footnote (or always, optionally), but can also be hidden if the wri...

Mellel is quirky, but I wouldn't say learning it is "hell." You learn as you go. But the original poster in this case already knows Mellel. The problem with using Nisus with bibliographic software is that you need to do an rtf scan; this presents a number of difficulties. You can only do t...

My experience--as someone who partially switched from Mellel a while back (that is, I bought a license for NWE, then Pro, and have used it off and on)--is that for scholarly writing Mellel still can't be beat. There's much about Nisus that I like, but Mellel is the place I tend to write longer and m...

different first page header height

Hi,

This sounds completely worthwhile. I hope this gets on someone's radar. It's surprising that no one has responded to either your post or mine. I don't have the coding skills to do this. Maybe the Nisus folks can give us an idea as to whether or not this is or will be a priority. For scholars what Zo...

Since it´s in the air I send another vote for tabbed browsing, whether or not is the "Mac way." My impression is that Mac apps are demanding more and more screen space, and making tabbed browsing an option would help in that regard. Incidentally, as I recall the LaTeX editor Texmate permit...

Reference manager integration

I've been playing around with Zotero lately (a cool Firefox add-on that does citation management and much more. Their motto: "A personal research assistant. Inside your browser.") and I'm very impressed. It's simple and elegant, like Nisus. They have plugins for Word and NeoOffice/Open Off...

A Nisus plugin? Is this new? I remember trying out Sente a few months ago, but I don't think I found anything like this. Do I download it along with the app? Or elsewhere on your site?
