You should send the word file to Martin at nisus. You can likely just open the file in NWE and then click help>submit feedback and send it that way.

I'm also holding off praise until Martin, et al add in the "make my writing not suck" preference. That's not really a feature request. It's more a fantasy wish. If you find software with that feature, please let me know I can recommend it to all my students. Oh no! I'm keepin...

I'm holding off praise until I find out whether the academic article I wrote entirely in NWE—and without the normal yelling and screaming at Word when some damned orphaned footnote won't go where it's supposed to go—is accepted for publication. I'm also holding off praise until Martin, et al add in ...

So now that it's in there, does that mean that it's technically off the table?

I kind of like that, although I think the buttons should be listed vertically rather than horizontally—one of the key benefits of the toolpane/palette approach is that you can maximize vertical space without compromising usability.

Surely no one would have more than one edit per line! ;)

Seriously, though. I suppose that there's no reason the buttons couldn't be placed adred the modified text or above it or shrunken and placed in the margins.

I'm thinking of something simple like this:

I call for both change-tracking and document comparison! Wish for both, eh? The key is to keep it simple, intuitive, and unobtrusive. One idea instead of the balloons (*shudder*) is to use the styled text (underline or whatever) and have a small icon at the end of changed text for accept or reject....

I just know you can give a more comprehensible description of your problem than that... :D
Um. I'd like there to be a sort commant that ignores "the," "a" and "an."

Re: and it is a big butt

I agree. In many ways I am glad NWE doesn't pop up a tip of the day when you load it, but when ever someone points out a little thing like shift-cmd-g i almost always find a tool I didn't know existed..... Loads of things on the Mac work that way: cmd+whatever is reversed by shift+cmd+whatever. So ...

I've tried the command both with the cursor between 2 characters and with the 2 characters selected.
It works, I think. It just doesn't increase the spacing very much at all. Martin or Dave, can this be made configurable?

I have to admit that even though I was opposed to it, I've started to use FS mode in a couple of applications I rely on, and it's really quite neat.
