List server must be acting up again. Now I can't see the March folder at all for the last three days.

Wasn't the original intention that there would be two tiers of word processors, Pro and Express? Which implies that both would continue to receive development.

At least I remember that discussion 3-4 years ago.

Thanks for that.

However, in my case, it is happening with a new document that I created. And it seems to be inconsistent (not every quote is wrongly curled).

For the sample I sent you, yes. It was a brand new document, and those were the only things typed in.

When I first noticed it, I had begun on a 10 page study guide, and it appeared several times.

Thanks for sending in the document shades, I've taken a look but can't find any reason the quotes would curly incorrectly. Can I assume that you typed the text and quotes directly as they now appear? eg: you typed the characters in the exact sequence that they logically appear on the page? In other...

I wondered about that. There is a tab after the 1., but there are other words before the quote. And it seems inconsistent.

No. Each paragraph has a sentence, and in each sentence is a quote of a few words. Here is the entire text in the rtf file (not including the double lines): =================== This will be “ the first test when we start.” 1. But we ” never knew what happened.” =================== The first line, th...

Okay, I started a new document and typed two lines. The first line, the leading curly quote was correct, on the second line, the leading curly quote was backward.

(PS I sent under my real name).

Inconsistent "Curly Quotes"

I was working on a paper this afternoon and noticed an inconsistency when typing double quotes (US style). In the Preference pane, I have set to automatically use curly quotes. However, when I was writing several sentences and used this " , sometimes the quote would automatically produce the co...

Thanks, I knew that it was an error page, that's how I found it. I have been known to make a few errors.

But I rather like the red. Must be my old age that is easily seduced by the bright color. ;)

Question about listserv.dartmouth.edu access

Howdy. Although I do not subscribe to the listserv.dartmouth.edu for Nisus, I have profitted from reading it over the years. However, in the last 8-10 days when clicking on the January files it shows an error. I can click on previous months fine, but for January, I get this: The archive files could ...

Apple OS upgrades have NEVER cost as much as $199US. The family pack costs that much. My answer to your question, though, is: it won't matter to me. My Mac is my life. I consider upgrading to the latest version of the OS, and any application that I depend on, as merely the cost of doing business (w...
