I think my feature requests are as follows: Find/Replace being styles aware. Find/Replace having Macroise function (that would be Macroize in US). This was in Nisus Writer Classic of course and I think it was invented by Joe Kissell. To be honest I haven’t looked at the Perl scripting yet so I don’t...

I believe that Nisus Writer, the pre-Mac OS X version of Nisus Writer Express, had something very much like what you want. (Not having used Nisus Writer, I can't say for certain.) So far, though, Nisus Writer Express doesn't support this. I wouldn't be surprised if it showed up eventually, but it i...

LinkBack
I realised that I have two LinkBack applications, Nisus Writer Express and Intaglio. With Intaglio I found I have to check a box in preferences to enable LinkBack. Gosh, it works! What a splendid thing it is as well. I was a great fan of OpenDoc but the real challenge with OpenDoc was getting it to ...

NWE as global spell-checker
A few years ago I wrote a very simple AppleScript/Nisus Macro for Nisus Writer Classic which simply opened the clipboard and ran the spell-checker over the text on the clipboard. This was very simple but proved very popular amongst some people on the Dartmouth "Nisus List" which I used to ...

I haven't tried importing of MS Word documents into NWE. I think if I were to set about it the first thing I'd try is to save the Word documents as RTF then try opening those in Nisus Writer Express. I agree with original poster that it is an excellent thing that NWE saves files as RTF. For me this ...

I think that is a most thoughtful post you have written. I feel that many writers do use Nisus Writer but I don't know if that is specifically the niche that NWE is targeted at. The old Nisus Writer Classic, which I used for many years was hugely strong in that you could customise it to do the thing...

Hi Well thanks for letting me know there's a problem with 2.7 in this regard. For now I'm putting scripts in folders. I'll be glad when this bug is fixed as my desire for neatness compels me to clear the Macro menu of all those macros I don't need and start building a Macro menu with macros and scri...

Unloading Macros
Hi I've just encountered something a bit odd I think. I try to empty the Macros folder: /Library/Application Support/Nisus Writer/Macros with a view to creating a nice empty Macros menu so I can start to populate it with the AppleScripts I'm writing for NWE. I quit out of Nisus Writer Express versio...

Hyperlinks in anything other than blue with underline?
Hi
I think it's nice that Nisus Writer Express can have hypertext links, but is it possible to have then in anything other than blue with underline?
In Microsoft Word the hypertext links' style appears in the styles menu and can be changed like any other style.
Thank you

Vulgar Fractions
A very simple but useful thing I notice in Apple' Pages application is that in their "Auto-Correction" section they've included conveting vulgar fractions typed crudley like 1/2 into the very nice new with unicode version: ½ Obviously the same thing can be done with Nisus Writer Express qu...

Thank you Martin. I'm new to this OS X business having got a new Intel iMac a couple of weeks ago. In fact after I posted the question I worked this one out. I am enjoying Nisus Writer Express, I had used Nisus Writer Classic a lot on my previous Macs and found it to be quite superb. I'm reassured t...

What does the "Forget" button do?
Hi I'm using Nisus Thesaurus with Nisus Writer Express and of course there is the window in the “Tools” thingmy. As I write the window comes up with a continuous stream of suggestions for alternative words. It’s very cool indeed and I really like it. But… What does the “Forget” button do? The “Use” ...
