thanks, kino. I shall survive the psychological barrier.. I guess typing the command in terminal is longer than opening the plist file and deleting those redundant fonts. (I could also copy the line.. ) Still, good to know that there is more than one solution.

Re: Sorting a non-alphabetical index
From my experience in such problems, the solution is to create a reference list which is alphabetic (easier than numeric, but numeric is also feasible) where books have a fixed (ordered) value, so do chapters etc. then you can prepare the index according to the list, and in the final stages of editi...

Re: doc. files in Hebrew
He means that merely changing the name of the file from hebrew to english solves the problem. It is strange, since the same file (sent to me for testing) opens fine even with a hebrew name. maybe the fact that I still (yes..yes) work with good old tiger has something to do with it.

Re: NWP and Syriac / NWP and other ancient scripts
I do not use syriac at all, but I do use hebrew with punctuation. I must say the apple's text engine is very far from being perfect. OSX engineers have neglected badly this aspect of their system. There is very very little progress since OS10.3 (!). In that respect, as an old time loyal user of nisu...

Re: How do I remove the highlighting from the footnote refer
Footnotes reference numbers do not actually come out highlighted in printing. It is only a display issue which is intended to distinguish reference numbers from others. . If you prefer to see the numbers with no mark at all, go to Preferences>appearance. at the bottom of the window choose under &quo...

Re: Copy and Pasting an Image . . .
I can only tell you that my clipboard includes the picture when copied through normal copy, and include only its file name when copied with 'text only' command. so clearly there is a bug somewhere. you could try to take out to the desktop nisus plist file from the preferences folder, in case somethi...

Re: Copy and Pasting an Image . . .
I can reproduce what you are describing by using 'copy text only' command. using 'copy' copies the image itself as well. Have you tried using the command from the menu?

Re: Converting old Wintext documents to Nisus Writer?
just in case this may be helpful, I attach this extract from this http://www.smi.uib.no/ksv/ArabicProgs.html link.
it may be useful to approach the makers of wintext to see whether they have a clever solution.

Re: Converting old Wintext documents to Nisus Writer?
From my experience, the only way you would know for sure is by downloading the demo version and try it with a file the reflects the type of texts he is using. if it goes ok, all is well. if not - approach the nisus team and ask for help.

Try to enter the actual New File through the Advanced tab, and select your language from there. save it, re-login and see whether that helps.

as far as I remember, microsoft "borrowed" apple's language flags concept back in the eighties so then need to switch flags/input keyboards has become rather common in the pc world...

your question is not clear: are you a new user of mac? do you have arabic as an input source activated? (do you have the green moon flag o the top menu of the finder? can you type arabic in any other software? what system are you using? if you could give us some details, it would be easier to help y...
