Re: Desired NWP1.2 Features
I'll add my old standbys to the list: 1. Either some way to wrap text around tables, or a captioning system for images. A way to autonumber those figures and produce a table of figures would be nice as well. 2. Split screen. I don't want to open another copy of the file. I want it to use two copies ...

Re: info on neo office, nicuswriterexpress
Express is a subset of Pro. Everything Express can do, Pro can do, and then some. Express does not have all of the features of NeoOffice, however, you may find that the features it doesn't have are ones you don't need. If you want something that competes better with NeoOffice, you want to look at Pr...

Re: It used to be called "glossary"
Norman,
Go to Preferences -> Quickfix and you will see the Glossary there. You can import glossary files and create new ones as well.

spower,
this is how conversations on this forum usually end up, meandering along into some other interesting topic. i've found that i've learned a lot about things that i never really thought of because of it.

Re: Good-bye AW6
Sheamus,
I think Endnote works best with NWP, if only for its integration into the Services menu.
See my Endnote workflow and mini-tutorial for more information:

Re: Good-bye AW6
Hello and welcome to the forums. If you want ease of use, NWP is the way to go. It's interface, as you can see discussed here many many times, is intuitive and a breeze to learn. However, I must say, for what you descibe, Pages '08 is the best choice, which you get as a bonus Numbers and Keynote (wh...

Re: Word Export/Import- styles
Tommy, I know this is not the answer you want to hear, but in my experience, NWP's import of Word documents (.doc) is not really that good (it's basically based on AbiConverter). However, it's import of RTF (which is Word's other native format is really good. I've never lost a style in an .rtf docum...

Re: thinking of switching from Mellel
Hello Timotheus, Yeah, sometimes we get a little adamant about Nisus, just as Melell users sometimes do the same for their product. I have a crush on Nisus, I must admit. But, for as much critical distance as I can muster, that is why I was also sure to say that NWP is by no means perfect, which as ...

Re: Flowing Text Around Tables
Yep...I've requested this before (maybe not as much as Greenmorpher requests verticle rulers, but I do what I can... ) A text box feature would be another option as well.

I must be an 'average' academic, then. Nisus Writer Pro is my word processor of choice, and I think Endnote kicks Bookends' hindparts when it comes to integration into the OS (specifically, the Services menu, which allows for a very cool workflow between Nisus and Endnote). Although Mellel and Booke...

Also, I don't think NWP has a Plug-in architecture like Word and NeoOffice. This is a good thing. Endnote is not compatible with the new version of Word because Microsoft decided to get rid of VBA, the mechanism that most of these things are based on. ALL reference managers are compatible with NW be...

No - you guys are missing it - spell check doesn't work as it should! it has nothing to do with words or adding them or alternate spelling etc. Nisus doesn't pick them up or blows right by them. the words are basic everyday types of words. do not make excuses or blame Mac OS X for a possible error ...
