Is this even possible Recreate WordPerfect's Perfect Authority
Howdy folks. As some may know, I work in the Legal Field, and I do a lot of legal briefs. One of the integral parts of a legal brief is the Table of Authorities. Essentially, the Table of Authorities is an index, broken down by sections, with cases, statutes, rules, treatises/ law review ariicles, a...

Scrolling bug?
I'm running Nisus 3.3 (most recent) on Monterrey, on an intel Mac. I'm getting intermittent scrolling bugs. What happens is that I cannot scroll (using scroll bars) away from the page that has the cursor on it. The page "bounces" as it tries to move, and then immediately resets. The "...

Re: Can We Restore Old Title Bar?
I would note that the "edited" notation was far more prominent in the old title bar format. Sometimes it was nice to quickly see if the document was edited by a quick glance. Now, it's still there but quite small.
I liked the discoverability of the older title bar better.

Re: Command for Text Editing Areas Always Use Light Mode
I think that there is a solution to this. Applescript has a way of sending arbitrary Cocoa commands using CocoaScripting. The basic process would be to grab the current Nisus Preference object and set the appropriate preferences on it, which can be done. The downside, of course, is knowing what Nisu...

Re: Page numbers and sections
A bit late to this thread, but could "Facing pages" solve the original request for page numbers that "float" depending on which page they are on in a book?
That is what they are for.

Re: Save shape styles?
This is an interesting conundrum. It doesn't look like there is any way, even manually, to set a different stroke for a shape depending on the side, or "edge" as the macro language calls it. It looks like setting the lineAttribute property sets all six possible edges that a LineAttribute o...

Re: Questions re highlighting and keyboard shortcuts
My guess is that the attributes object is a thin wrapper around an NSAttributedString object which is applied to the text, and it's the specific attributes attached to that NSAttributedString. Thank you, Vanceone, for chiming in. Unfortunately, right now, this all sounds like a gobbledygook to me. ...

Re: Questions re highlighting and keyboard shortcuts
According to the macro guide, .texthighlightcolor is attached to the attributes object of a piece of text. So the flow would be to get a piece of text, ask for its attribute object, then ask that attribute object for it's .texthighlightcolor, and if undefined it is not highlighted. The Attribute obj...

Re: OpenType features
It's unfortunate that we cannot apply multiple character styles. I had rather hoped for a CSS like system where you just apply character styles as need be and conflicts are resolved in some well laid out algorithm. Still, good to know the other answers, so thank you Martin!

Re: How to make two columns w/out flowing text for MAIN text + commentary?
This is a recurring problem. As far as I know no current shipping Word Processing program for the Mac handles this style of columns--Not Word, not Nisus, and I don't think Mellel does either. Odd, when you think about it, since Wordperfect Mac from 1997 could.... In any case, another option is to us...

OpenType features
So does Nisus support all the OpenType features of a font? I am looking at things like thhe rear set of fonts that have specific "small caps" versions of the font... if available, would Nisus use that automagically instead of an algorithmic scaling like I believe it does normally? I know y...

Re: Making Image Float
Floating images are tricky, primarily because if you attach it to a paragraph so it moves with the paragraph, it attaches to the top of the paragraph, and if there's not enough room for the paragraph plus image on the page... things go haywire. So, some tips: Don't worry about it until you've finali...

Re: Bold word leads to bold underline?
The only time it's a problem is when I have a multi-line heading. I don't really care about th the thickness, just that it's consistent. When you have a 3 line heading and the middle line has a thicker underlining than the other two lines it looks off. But know that I know this is what happens, I ca...

Re: Bold word leads to bold underline?
Well now, that's interesting. Using Helvetica it does not happen, but in Times New Roman it does. I usually use Timees New Roman, so that's why I noticed it, I'm sure. I checked and it happens on my Big Sur version of Nisus as well. Again, Helvetica and other fonts are not affected. Not sure why Tim...

Bold word leads to bold underline?
So I don't know if this is a bug or not. Running Mojave and Nisus Writer 3.2.2. If I underline a phrase, sentence, etc. Multiple words underlined. Then I bold one or more words, but not all of those words, it bolds the underline for that line, including the underline under the non-bolded words. . If...
