ARGH! Still have trouble saving docs. I have NWE preferences set to autosave every 5 minutes, and do not save into document manager without telling me. I just closed a document that had been on my screen for an hour. By accident, when the "save changes?" dialogue box came up, I said no. Th...

[quote="rmark" Now can you tell me why when I'm in Nisus Classic and I go to Save, it doesn't show all my file and documents? Could that be because the person who transferred the files into this new computer put them all into a folder on the dock, so Nisus doesn't see them? I've no clue wh...

Holy moly!!!! It worked!!!! The PDF file is backwards - that is, page 1 is last and page last is first - but I don't think that's a big deal. Thank you, Mark. This may save my life. You are a geeeeeeeeeeenius! Now can you tell me why when I'm in Nisus Classic and I go to Save, it doesn't show all my...

Candace, I know this is a "roundabout" process, but, it's a lot cheaper than trying to find a printer that will print from Classic (less and less do). If you have the "LaserWriter 8" printer driver in your OS 9 Extensions folder you can choose it in the Chooser. Then, when you c...

Turns out I can't run 9.2 natively because my iMac won't do it. So now I am looking for a printer that prints well from Classic via USB. Any ideas? HP's (which is what I have) evidently do not do well with Classic via USB. Thanks. Candace

Can you explain how to "run 9.2 natively?" I too am having problems printing (HP all in one printer) from Classic on my recently donated iMac and after googling, have learned that HP says that printing from Classic is not supported. If I knew how to run 9.2 natively, that would solve my pr...

Re: new footnote problem

P.S. That was my first try with an emoticon. Why did it reproduce with the code as well as the image? Hm, it's hard to say after the fact... did you just click the little emoticon icon, or did you try to copy/paste/drag it as well?[/quote] Clicked twice and dragged (can you tell I was impatient?) I...

Re: new footnote problem

Thanks for quick response. Oh, bah. I meant " Thank you for the quick response you have already provided," not "Thanks for responding quickly to this other question." And yes, I will send file if it happens again. Cheers, Candace P.S. That was my first try with an emoticon. Why ...

Re: new footnote problem

A one line footnote shouldn't be too long to fit... you weren't doing anything odd like increasing the font size to 128pt or anything :P were you? Hi Martin, Nope, nothing unusual at all. If it happens again I will try and figure out what preceded it. We are looking into adding support for multi-pa...

new footnote problem

NWE just told me that a one line footnote was too long to fit and that it would put it in the main body of the document, where the reference was. (Document was in rtf; had started in NWE, then been worked on in Word, then opened in NWE. It may have started in Nisus Classic, as a matter of fact, in c...

Yes, yes, yes, yes!!! It worked! I am heartened! Thanks for your quick response and such clear, step by step instructions. They really helped. Now, I am going to search the forum for an end run around the non-existence of an indexing and TOC feature. And if I can just get a grip on setting Styles, I...

I can chime in here. Even though I cannot yet use NWE in a way that works for me, I can send a big thank you to the people at Nisus who have been kind and responsive on the phone, and all those, volunteer mentors and official Nisus persons, who have been so generous with advice on this Forum. I hope...

Novice question on NWE find and replace

Hi all, I am trying to change all occurrences of a phrase made up of a recurring word , then a variable word (e.g. "People v. Chapin" and "People v. Hale" and "People v. Nisus") to italics. In Classic I would just do a find and replace with wild card and have the replac...

I always feel sorry reading your posts that you are apparently having so much trouble with NWE. To deal with your PS first, it seems to me that maybe the difference is that you are approaching NWE with preconceptions of how word-processors (should) work, because of your previous happy experience wi...
