Format as Web Link
A new feature in 2.5, that I cannot find in the documentation or in the release notes, is HTML formatting. If I copy a link from a Web page in Safari and paste it into a Nisus Writer 2.5 document, it appears as a proper link. In other words, it's colored and underlined -- but the "http://www......

Check Spelling Design bug
To prevent red underlines from appearing in documents (old or new, makes no difference), you must still turn off spell checking in TWO places: (1) In Edit->Spelling>Check Spelling as You Type (2) Preferences>New Document>View Unless you uncheck in both places, OLD documents keep returning with red u...

In addition to the other problems noted with phantom space characters being inserted into the clipboard by Nisus Writer, I've noted a new one. Copy any message in this thread or from any Web page. Paste it into NWX 2.1.1 and into TextEdit (or any other word processor). Nisus Writer is the only one t...

Re: Text cut off
My bottom margin is cutting off the bottom half of a line of text. Courier 12-pt, 2-line spacing, NWE 2.1.1, MacOS 10.2.8. That's an issue that's appeared in NWX 2.1. I haven't nailed down exactly the conditions, but it happens for me with any text 10-pt and smaller. Sometimes, it resolves itself i...

when you drag and drop, it does not work Nor does it work when you cut and paste. A paste always adds an extra space to the end of the text pasted. Nor does it work with scripts. A perl or Applescript that manipulates text always adds a space to the end of whatever it inserts. For instance, it is i...

The file is a text file, not RTF, and it is not a Unix executable. The reason OS X displays it with the Unix icon is because the file is missing its .txt extension. That is Apple's fault. Add .txt to the filename, and its Nisus Writer icon will reappear, and it'll open in NWX. This happens sometimes...

I should have done this in the first place, instead of posting the text of the code:

I found two problems. I'm sorry. (1) You must get rid of any spaces at the start and end of all lines. When you copy the script from your browser, NWX pads every line with spaces before and after. Then Nisus complains that it does not recognize the menu commands in the script, because there are spac...

Did I do something wrong? No, I did. Here’s the procedure: (1) Copy the macro (2) In NWX, select Macro->New Perl Script. ___This will open a new document. (3) Select All (Cmd-a) and paste the script. Make sure ___that the very first character on the page is a “#“. (4) Select Macro->Save as Macro......

This removes quotes but I want to add them. Am I missing something? Yes, you are. It doesn't just remove quotes, it reformats whatever you've selected any way you want. The preferences enable you to specify something to place at the beginning of every line after it has been wrapped. That might be a...

Just download SmartWrap http://www.selznick.com/products/smartwrap/mac/index.htm . I tried to write my own Perl macro, but this little program is so good and so flexible, it made more sense to spend the $18 on it. What the company's website doesn't tell you is that, once you've installed SmartWrap, ...

The Nisus-supplied macro pastes an ugly, unformatted date/time. Here's a little Perl script I wrote that formats it better. Modify to your heart's content: #Nisus Macro Block #destination clipboard #source none #Before Execution #Clipboard 1 #After Execution #Paste #Clipboard 0 #End Nisus Macro Bloc...
