As Midwinter wrote, there isn't currently a way to create a text box. You might be able to get the results you want through a very inelegant workaround. You could create two columns on the first page, using the Columns palette in the Sections palette group. Then create a new section with only one co...

To add a character to Favorites in the Tiger Character Palette (other OS versions might be slightly different)... 1. Select the character. 2. Click the gear at the lower left of the palette. 3. Click "Add to Favorites" from the menu. You might consider setting something up with QuickFix. I...

Two ideas for you to try. 1. Don't bother with the tab set at all. When you set margins for a hanging indent, Nisus Writer Express automatically sets a tab at the left margin for second and subsequent lines. It doesn't appear in the ruler bar, but it is there. 2. Try double-clicking a tab arrow or a...

Also, I'm having a hard time doing the simplest heading format -- I try to line up the indent mark so that it I can type I., (no comma in actual text), then indent 5 spaces, then have following lines start 5 spaces in. I can get the following lines where I want them, but the first line indent seems...

Hi, jdd. I wonder if your problem has to do with the language assigned to various parts of your document? I can't be sure of this because in my brief experiments just now I wasn't able to recreate the problem, but I've heard that Word doesn't do the greatest job in applying language settings to text...

I've been pleased with Nisus Writer Express's stability since it reached version 2.5, so I suspect that there's something odd in that document. The people at Nisus generally seem interested in documents that cause crashes, so you might want to use the feedback mechanism (in the Help menu) to send th...

Command-D should do what you want. Or, since the "Don't Save" button is circled in blue, you could press the spacebar.

Try using OS X's language (flag) menu extra to switch to Greek Polytonic. If you open Keyboard Viewer, you'll see that -, =, [, ], ;, ', and / are diacritics highlighted in orange. (Holding down option or shift+option gives you a few other options.) Press the diacritic you want, then the letter you ...

Re: reply

However, if file is opened as a 'new file', using the tamplate, why shouldn't I have the option to continue editing it with special styles? The "Open as New File" checkbox in the Open dialog applies only to templates, I'm afraid. If it is checked, it opens a new document based on that tem...

Re: NW 6.5 hebrew files and Styles bugs(?).

All the Menu-Keys and Styles etc work ok when openning a new file, including a Size10 character Style (with a shortkey). However- when openning a NW 6.5 file (as a new file) the new Character-Style does not appear and is not usable while other (modified) Styles and Keys work ok. Is that bug? Can an...

I don't believe you did anything wrong. I think this is the intended behavior. Just open the template, delete the existing content and save it.

Another, possibly more convenient way to assign keyboard shortcuts to styles is to do it within the Style Sheet. 1. Switch to the Style Sheet. 2. Select a style. 3. Click in the box next to "Shortcut." 4. Hold down the command key (and any other modifier keys you would like to use), then t...

If this gives you some help in the mean time, you can select and deselect non-contiguous paragraphs by command-triple-clicking. Or non-contiguous words by command-double-clicking.
