With respect to stability I have found Nisus Writer Express to be very good. .................I do hope that the problem is solved for foobar, I don't doubt for one moment that it exists. My own experience is very similar. I use NWE most days and have experienced no trouble. I swore by Classic Nisu...

FWIW I do similar routine maintenance every couple of months or so. I use Onyx to repair permissions, clear caches and rebuild the launch services dBase as well as doing the routine Unix stuff. I then startup from a separate disk and use the tools in Techtool to check my disk over. In total it takes...

Re: Pro

............ the only way I will "reinvest" in the Pro version is if it features automatic read/write of the new Word format. .... Given that MS have not long released the specs for their format, I really can't see this version of NWPro supporting it. Neither will you be able to 'save as'...

10.3.9 will be the minimum, 10.4 preferred. I can't see them making it 10.5 only.

Re: Fixed line height

Micro$oft Wierd and Word Perfect, both use their own text engines; NWE, uses Apple's text engine. Apple's text engine does not support fixed line height, so either (a) you are asking Nisus to completely rewrite NWE for this reason, or (b) you should address your problem to Apple. I though Nisus had...

I might hazard a guess at it beginning with f and ending with k or -in'.

OK try this. Open NWE with new blank file. Open prefs -> languages. Select language and the window will change to one with spelling listed. Select your dictionary there. If this does work, open your prefs for new document -> edit file. Do the above and save. Close prefs, quit NWE and next time you s...

it is more a stutter... that is on occasion there will be a delay before the typing appears. then once it does, there is no problem.
Are you sure it's not doing an automatic save in the background?

For me at least, there is also 2.5, send your paper to co-authors for comments/revisions, 2.6 review co-authors comments/revisions, and 2.7, fight with co-authors about comments/revisions. It's not a problem I have very often. Whenever I have needed comments they are usually done in coloured text w...

Hi all: Ok I'm late to this thread so my requests have no doubt been asked before. Still here we go: More work on footnotes. The ability to have an un-numbered footnote (= a 'true' footnote) with references in endnotes. An outliner. The spadework is there already so this shouldn't be too difficult. ...

I'd like to join in the thanks to Martin, Mark, Dave and the team at Nisus. I've been a user since 5.1.3 which for me was, and still is, the best WP around, although NWE is catching up. I too have found the team to be very prompt in their responses, and unfailingly courteous, even when their patienc...

Sarah,

If you really, really need this and don't mind spending the money, you may find that Grammatica or Grammarian will do this for you. Not sure about SpellCatcher - I think that just does spelling.

cheers,

You could try this. Go to: Preferences - New Document - Advanced - Edit File. Resize the file and place wherever you want. You could also alter the default fonts, sizes, styles, rules etc at the same time. When done save the file and close prefs. Quit and restart NWE. Any new file should now be as y...

One for Martin and the Nisus team. A request regarding the new 'full screen' view. I have my dock positioned on the right hand side of the screen. If I use full screen view, the vertical scroll bar hides behind the dock. Scrolling seems to work OK but the view is messy. Is it possible to have full s...

I doubt this has anything to do with NWE. ....... Jon Actually Jon and Martin it has everything to do with me :-) I failed to notice that NWE was not linked to BE, even though NWE was open. Presumably it is done automatically in Word. Everything now works fine thanks. I could post this to the BE li...
