Re: Table Format for Sort by date?

3. Paste in a spreadsheet and change the format to something more friendly Nice. Though I no longer have a viable spreadsheet, but maybe I can rustle up something out there in the cloud that will do it as a service. :) Unless Apple supplies one in the macOS that I don't know about... ? Anybody know...

Re: Table Format for Sort by date?

Or maybe we should just offer a list of sorting options like BBEdit does for paragraphs. They have a very nice "sort using pattern" option, for those comfortable using regular expressions. I can see that the coding for mixed written/number dates might be difficult, but I have to count mys...

Re: Table Format for Sort by date?

OK, I can answer my question now. :D

Format [YYYY], [MM], [DD], in numbers, seems to work. I.e.
{2019, 02, 02} = February 2nd, 2019, and if all the others are in this format it sorts correctly in chronology.

Table Format for Sort by date?

Hi, I'm setting up a table that I'll want to sort the rows by date. So far I haven't figured out a date format that the sort function will recognize accurately to get them in order, though I'm still trying things. I'm using a Macro for table sorting that was supplied to me years ago by Nisus (for NW...

Re: Automatic numbers lost in sort Table

Can this macro be edited to produce numbers in a way that will sort in sequence in the table? Yes, just remove "Scene " & from the macro. Turn line numbers on, and you'll find the string on line 16 and 23. Remove scene.png Excellent. This works as you say, and solves my problem. And I...

Re: Automatic numbers lost in sort Table

Hi, You don't need to enter the numbers by hand; use a macro to do this automatically. Here is a macro that does this for you. If you add or delete rows, then just run the macro again and it will update all the numbers. Thanks and that's great but introduces a new problem: the sort of the Scene1 etc...

Automatic numbers lost in sort Table

Hi, I'm attempting to put a column of automatic numbers in a Table, each representing a 'Scene #' in a long book, which I was hoping to use to re-sort the table into that order again later. They add nicely and quickly in the column. However, if I then sort the table by another column (say, 'number o...

Re: Typesetting bug 3.0.1 - all lost on any edit

Thanks for the extra information. Would Section Breaks be 'clear breaks'? (And are there other 'clear breaks'?). I ask because I tested my document in version 2, and found I have four sections in the 1007 pages. Two of the breaks are within the first 40 pages, and the final one is at the very end. H...

Re: Typesetting bug 3.0.1 - all lost on any edit

An addendum: I've just noticed in version 2 that when I inserted a Section Break, next Odd page, the complete typesetting of the whole document is forced, and I have to wait for the typesetting to complete before I can access the end of the document. This is understandable to me because at least one...

Re: Typesetting bug 3.0.1 - all lost on any edit

Thank you and this clarifies slightly, but I just tested what you said in version 2, and I think you're still missing the major point about version 3's difference from version 2. I mean: I just added a new paragraph that was twenty lines long into a version 2 page near the start (of my 1007 page fil...

Re: Typesetting bug 3.0.1 - all lost on any edit

Martin, you have helped me many times, and I know you mean well here, but what you've said is fundamentally incorrect on my machine. I just tested 2.1.10 against 3.0.1 on the same file. To repeat, in more detail: 2.1.10 Loads the whole file, (which is 1007 pages, and takes two minutes) and then allo...

Typesetting bug 3.0.1 - all lost on any edit

Hi, I'm a long-time user of version 2 (many years), who just upgraded to 3.0.1. I have a major issue that must be resolved (maybe it's a new setting, but could be a bug?): Issue: When working in PageView, whenever I make ANY edit in the document, all typesetting after a few pages is lost, and the ty...

Crash and no sign of document in manager

Hi, Just had a power failure, computer down. In earlier versions of Nisus I usually retrieved my crashed file from the Document manager, but this time no sign of it there at all. This is very sad and annoying; lost 30 minutes of work that I was deeply involved in. :( I'd like to ask if this is relat...

Re: Nisus/Apple breaking at non-syllables, off by 1 letter

You could try installing additional English hyphenation dictionaries, which Nisus Writer can detect. I found some extra English hyphenation dictionaries on a LibreOffice web page. You'll want the file called hyph_en_US.dic or hyph_en_GB.dic . Then follow the instructions in our FAQ topic to make th...

Feature Req — Enhanced Typogr Spacing and Hyphenation

Hi, I'd like to know if the following typographic final-compositor tools will be available in Nisus within the next year. I asked about this a couple of years ago, and I think it's time to ask again. :P I mean the tools available like these screen-shots of InDesign: the word-spacing, letter-spacing,...
