Attribute sensitivity in Power Find

Post by nelsonbyrne »

I want to search for paragraphs consisting of all italics, then convert them to a certain style.

But PF seems to ignore the italic wild card.

The manual mentions that PF and regular find differ in their attribute sensitivity, but doesn't explain what the differences are.

Hi,

you may not even need to use PowerFind for this. Place your cursor in one of the paragraphs that has been italicised, then click on the tiny, underlined "a" in the right corner of the status bar at the very bottom of the document window. Choose "Select All" from the pop-up menu, and NWP will select every paragraph written in italics. That is, assuming you have italicised the paragraphs manually, without the help of character styles.

mrennie's tip is good, but will not limit the selected content to just those paragraphs that are completely italicized.

Nelson, you want your PowerFind to look this:

Be sure that you've applied italics to the whole expression and that the "Attribute Sensitive" option is checked.

I over thought the problem- apparently we already have a wild card for "Any Paragraph", so this is all you will need:
