Tooldrawer Defaults

There is a way to force the Tooldrawer always to open with the formatting palette group selected -- but not for the Header.
When you CREATE Nisus New File.dot, it remembers (1) whether the Tooldrawer was open, and (2) which palatte was selected in the Tooldrawer.

When you MODIFY Nisus New File.dot by changing the open/closed state of the Tooldrawer, Nisus Writer does not indicate that the document is "dirty" (changed), yet it records the change to the Tooldrawer anyway.

This change is sticky only for the body of Nisus New File.dot; it has no effect on the Header or Footer state.

I was wrong. The status of the Tooldrawer is not sticky for long. Eventually, it always reverts to the sections palette group, no matter what you do. I haven't narrowed it down to when and where, but it always does.

I guess this is now a feature request.

The palette group that shows up when you enter the document body should always be the last one you were using. When you click into the headers/footers one of the following happens:

1. If a palette group contains the Headers & Footers palette, then that palette group is activated.
2. Otherwise the Headers & Footers palette is shown as a temporary floating palette.

You might want consider removing the Headers & Footers palette from the Sections palette group so that you achieve behavior 2.

I will file a feature request to make this behavior more customizable.
