Feature Request: Include Footnotes in Word Count?

I know there are work-arounds, but it would be great if the stats bar could count words in footnotes along with the body text (as an option, a la Word? or, as such, like Mellel does it--whatever is easiest/whatever people prefer). I hate having to mobilize my arithmetic when trying to gauge the length of a piece of writing.

I hope this is done through a preference, not populating the stats counters with tons of different numbers. A clean stats palette is your friend, a busy one a severe distraction while writing.
