Hi

I tried to open up a Word document and got a dialog requesting that I install Rosetta. Anybody with the same issue? Is Rosetta really needed? What's the alternative?

Thanks a zillion

Claude

Hi Claude,

the code for the Word import filter (based on OpenOffice.org) is still PowerPC, and PowerPC code can only be run on Intel Macs via Rosetta. If you want to open Word documents in Nisus Writer Pro, you need to install Rosetta, or Nisus Writer Pro won't be able to read the file. This issue has been discussed before, and a number of people have voted in favour of having two different download versions of Nisus Writer Pro, one for Intel only, with Intel-native converters, and one for PowerPC users. If you think this is a good idea, just make sure to send the guys at Nisus your feedback.

I have found importing so slow with the latest version of NWP that I have switched over to opening word docs in TextEdit, which is practically instantaneous. For 99% of my purposes this is adequate. The rest I will go ahead and open in Word.
