2.0.1 beta 2 update failed

Post by feat »

my copy of Nisus Writer detected a new release was available — and do I want to install it?

I pressed the OK button and downloaded the file: unfortunately, the update failed to install and didn't finish cleaning up the mess!

the problem is, now NWP quits on launch, telling me:
NWP 2.0.1 wrote: Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/NisusBase.framework/Versions/A/NisusBase
Referenced from: /Applications/NWP 2.0.1.app/Contents/MacOS/Nisus Writer Pro
Reason: image not found
I've searched every nooks [and a handful of crannies] but this update can't be found on the web-site… and, according to http://nisus.com/pro/oldversions, the most recent release available isn't even the 2.0.1, it's the buggy one before that!

now, what should I do?

From the error it seems that the update wasn't downloaded properly/completely. Using the link Hamid provided should work.

thanks: this fixed my issue!

yet, I wonder why, as a customer, I wasn't told about this link while everybody else were: being kept informed would be nice, instead of having to blindly accept downloads that may fail… the latest Nisus newsletter I've got (19 July) didn't say a word about this!

I've got one question: What are we talking about here, exactly: Is there a new version of NPW 2.0 or is this still the 2.0.1 public beta that has been around for a while now?
BTW is there a date for the publication of the final version of 2.0.1?

Well, to be fair, we posted about the beta on our blog, here on the forum, and sent emails to our newsletter subscribers, so we're not keeping it a secret.
the latest Nisus newsletter I've got (19 July) didn't say a word about this!
That newsletter did mention the Pro 2.0.1 beta, and it sounds like you downloaded that version, which is why your NWP detected that beta 2 was available.
instead of having to blindly accept downloads that may fail…
Any download can fail, whether initiated manually or through the automatic updater. I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but it's not a common experience.

Yes, as Hamid confirmed, we're just talking about the NWP 2.0.1 public beta. There is no such thing as NWP 2.0.2 (at least not at this point).
BTW is there a date for the publication of the final version of 2.0.1?
We should have something available very soon. Likely within a week.
