Toolbars and Aesthetics

Post by cgc »

I tried NW1, Mariner Write, Mellel, Word v.X, Word 2004, and Appleworks 6. I find that NWE2 is nearly perfect and I want to buy it, except I find the sidebar (tools bar) to slow my workflow down. Maybe because I'm not used to it, but I can't be the only one with this experience.

I would much rather have all commonly used commands, like those in the sidebar tool thingy, to be icons on the top of the document window (or left, right, bottom, etc.). Being able to customize what goes onthe bar(s) would be essential as well.

This brings me to another issue. Mellel, Appleworks, and NWE2 all do this: the limited icons that can go on your top of document window toolbar look terrible.

Are there plans to add totally customizable toolbars with an improved look?

Hello, Craig. (How many Craigs are there on this forum anyway?)

There was some discussion of toolbars here.. It's a longish, meandering thread, but on it folks have been discussing how to handle customizable toolbars and the icons that populate them.
