Rename... command not working in NW 2.1.1 beta

Post by gardenjim »

When you try to rename an open file by using the File>Rename... command, everything appears to work until you click out of the new name. Then it reverts to the old name. If you rename by clicking the arrow to the right of the file name in the title bar, it works fine.

Hello Jim– I wasn't sure if this behavior was normal, but it turns out it is behaving as expected. You see, that renaming menu command and inline editing widget in the titlebar comes to us for free from Apple, as part of the modern document architecture that NWP version 2.1 just adopted.

To commit the edit to the file name, press either the Return or Enter key. If you click elsewhere to change focus, the change is discarded. This behavior is consistent with other apps, eg: Apple's TextEdit.

I hope that helps.

Thanks, Martin. You're absolutely right: "enter" fixes the change.
