TextEdit replaces Nisus docs by default

How can I prevent TextEdit from replacing Nisus by default? When I receive a MS Word doc I open it as Nisus rtf. But -- surprise -- it automatically becomes a TextEdit document. This started to occur today just after I started using my new iMac with OS10.6. The old iMac (2005) was OS10.5. I would appreciate help.

did you set Nisus as your default doc application? you need to set it once.. you right click on the doc file, choose get info, and choose nisus as the opening application, then in the line below "change all" files to be opened this way.
