However, different machines have different bottlenecks. If you can, try reporting to us via Send Feedback those places to get beachballs. Tells us what you were doing when it happened and we will try to track down the bottlenecks. I just sent you a couple of "bottlenecks" through the feed...

I'm not sure if it works, but the manual says something about changing the menu keys on pages 157-158. I haven't tested it my self yet, though

I have seen this infamous beachball more than ever before, after I upgraded to NWE 2.0. Is this something that will be fixed by a fast maintenance release or do I have to replace my Pismo with a AluBook? :?

On my computer, the shortcut is option-esc. That works (as long as I've already begun typing the word -- which is how it's supposed to work). Does this work for you? If not, perhaps you could change the shortcut through Preferences > Menu Keys. --Craig I've got the same shortcut - option-esc - and ...

Re: Question about a keyboard shortcut symbol

For Insert > Section Break > Next Page NWE uses a default keyboard shortcut that looks like Option-Command- and then a symbol that looks like a carat breaking upward through a horizontal line. What does this symbol represent? I'm using a PowerBook, so perhaps I don't have that key on my keyboard.--...

Now I have downloaded NWE 2.0 and will install it any minute now. I think we all won, maybe not the contest, but the feeling to have the new version up and running. 8)

Thanks guys, you got it out before the snow started to fall...

I get the same unwanted result as cchapin gets, both in NWE and TextEdit. Could it be that Symbol is not Unicode and that's the reason it does not behave as it's supposed to do? :?

Re: Equations in Express

We are negotiating with a couple of developers for a new equation editor at this time. In the meantime you can use MathMagic to create a PICT that contains an image of the equation. In our next release of Nisus Writer Express we expect that you will also be able to double click on the equation PICT...

Now that the new iMac has been released, perhaps a new graphic on the front page is in order, and an accompanying release of NWX 2  Yeah, I hope so too. I'm a kind of desperate since my new semester at the University starts tomorrow and I'm still stucked with the current (i.e. old) version of...

Maybe we also would bet on who is going to release their new version first? Will it be Nisus Writer Express 2.0 or Mellel 1.8 who are able to deliver first?

Any bets?

Since August 16 did not work as the release day, I will go for the August 23 (just a month a head of my 40th birthday).

Anyway I hope that it will be released before the semester starts at the University at September 1.

I've got the same experience with NWE 1.1.x. Hopefully it will be all fixed with the release of NWE 2.0. If not, it will be bad news for all of us, but I have full confidence in the Nisus staff and their ability to fix this bug.

In Sweden the summer ends on dawn of September 23, not 21. It's called "autumnal equinox".

How do I know? Because that's on my birthday. :D

I really hope that NWE 2.0 will be released way before that date… :?

I have also tried to open documents from wp 3.5e and even from Abiword 2.1.1 but none of them succeeded to be opened or translated by NWE.

I really hope that this option or feature will be improved in the next version of NWE (2.0).

Or goto http://www.nisus.com/Express/ and under links select the 'Nisus Writer Express Guide'. Ron The blame on me. I inserted the URL wrong, but I'm glad that MacUnix found out why it did ...
