Nisus 2.1.6 using 100% CPU
I notice for the last few days that NWP is using 33-100% or so of my CPU, while doing nothing at all. (This is not LibreOfficeImporter, which is using 0%) Is this a known bug, or is there anything I can do about it? I'm running a Macbook Pro 15", OS 10.10.5 Yosemite, 16 GB ram. Thanks, Nick Cah...

Searching for foreign characters
Thank you, Martin - that is exactly what I wanted, and another example of why I love Nisus. Instantly I can find all those sneaky letters that look like Greek but are actually Latin or math or something... what other word processor can do that?

Searching for foreign characters
Is there an easy way to search for classes of Unicode characters? I'm typing and proofreading ancient Greek, and have text entered by people who don't know Greek, and so they have used mathematical symbols, characters from Symbol font, and characters from the regular alphabet that look like Greek bu...

User-defined number sequences, mark/cross-reference
I write academic books with catalogs, lists of figures and illustrations etc. I need a rich set of user-defined numbers, and a way of marking them and then inserting a reference to that number, a reference that will change as the numbers are updated. Nisus Writer Classic was great at this. The lack ...

Bookends Macro
You might open the macros in Script Editor. My macros look like: tell application "Nisus Writer Express" Do Menu Macro with macro "Edit:Select All" Do Menu Macro with macro "Edit:Copy:Copy" end tell tell application "Bookends X 7.7.4" activate ScanNWE end tell...

Re: 3.0 Feature Request List
Key features for me would be a set of user-defined numbers, and a mark/cross reference system as we had in Nisus Classic. This was one of the great features of Nisus Classic, far better than Word or other wp's I have used; the lack of these features is a real hinderence in Express.

NWE 2.5a3 won't recognize rtf files
Has anyone else run into this problem? I successfully downloaded and installed the first alpha version of NWE 2.5a1. I then updated my system software to OSX 10.4, and tried to install NWE 2.5a2. That version would not open: it doesn't recognize any Nisus rtf files, including its own Nisus New File....

Re: NWE Creates hundreds of style converting from Nisus 6.5
Yes, this happens in all versions since 2.0. I keep an old copy of 2.0 around just for converting from all my old Nisus 6.5 files. It's a royal pain, and I hope that 2.5 will kill this bug once and for all. Nick Cahill When I convert a (long hundreds of pages) file from Nisus 6.5 to NWE 2.1.3, it cr...

I want to put in another plea for a fix here. It's great to have Express 2.1 import named rulers as paragraph styles; but it should do it just once for each Classic named ruler, not a new paragraph style for each occurance of a named ruler in the original document (if that's what's happening). Even ...

I also find styles in 2.1 work completely differently than in 2.0, and they don't work the way I want them to. Sometimes text will take on attributes (bold, size, etc) of the previous paragraph, no matter what the attributes of the paragraph style applied to the text is, and it's impossible to chang...

Thanks for the clarification about named rulers. This makes sense; but it does not make sense for the same named ruler/style to be imported over and over with different names. That is clearly a bug, to my mind. It is made worse when you cannot select more than one style and delete them all at once; ...

Classic to NWE 2.1 conversion
This is a problem new to 2.1; the earlier version 2.0 interpreted Nisus 6.5 styles correctly. I keep the old version around, use it to convert Classic files, and then use 2.1 for further editing. It's a chore, but I'm hoping they'll fix this by the next version.

Disappointed NO FOOTNOTES in beta 2 Disappoint
I'm also really disappointed. Beta 1 was a shock to me - after waiting for so long, there were still no footnotes, no user-defined styles, no rulers, etc.; but I thought that those would appear gradually in the next betas and be part of the final product. If Nisus Writer Express is just this set of f...
