Re: Merging documents

Thank you. The latter sounds exactly like what I was after.

Merging documents

If I send out a document to a committee for review and receive six versions back, each using track changes, can I merge all six sets of comments and changes into a single file?

For a long while the crashes appeared to be random but eventually I was able to find a way to repeat it: in a certain file click in the middle of a particular sentence then hold down the shift key and click just before the end. If I do this in TextEdit, the application does not crash but the selecti...

We can reproduce the crash but not describe its cause. I mentioned it to warn anyone who depends on Nisus to be chary about moving to Leopard.

NWP vs. Leopard

A document I am working on will crash NWP repeatably when selecting text in a certain way, while running under 10.5.1. Nisus have replicated this behaviour and informed me that the bug is Apple's to fix, that they will be unable to program a workaround.

You might take a look at FontSight from www.stone.com. It adds a WYSIWYG item to every the font menu or the menubar of just about every Cocoa application.

Remapping home to insertion point

Is there any command that I have been blind to, or any combination of macros and magic, that will re-map the Home key to go to the insertion point?

I played with this some more and found the common element: Nisus Writer Express[9209] .scriptSuite warning for attribute 'selectedText' of class 'NWDocument' in suite 'NisusWriter': 'NSTextStorage' is not a valid type name. I tried throwing away all of the macros and it worked. Alpha 4 now works too...

I am having exactly this problem, both with 2.1.3 and alpha 4, and deleting NWE's preferences and default new file have not fixed it. I just deleted the preferences, opened NWE again, and saw a new file in front of me on the screen. At that point, the Console & System logs showed the following. ...

Zapf Dingbats is now a unicode font. You'll need to use the character palette to find symbols.

I would state it rather more strongly: variable line-spacing is unacceptable for any purpose other than drafts. This is not a matter of fancy typesetting. Even a typewriter will allow you to insert a superscript without changing the spacing between lines.
