Re: Footnotes in ePub Export format

I just gave this a try and it appears to be working correctly. Footnote references in the exported EPUB show as links in iBooks. Clicking any of those links takes me to the corresponding note text at the very end of the document. If you're still having trouble, could you please send us your document...

Re: Images won't resize nicely

Insert Image should work as you expect, maintaining your graphic's original aspect ratio. Unless you manually resize the image it shouldn't appear squished like that. Do you have this problem with all your images, or just a particular image or group of images? I once ran into such a problem, not wit...

Re: Red Dots under words

This is most likely a temporary problem. It can occur any time after you visit the Language preferences. This is a new bug in version 3 that we intend to fix in the next software update. If you quit the app and relaunch it the red dots should disappear. If not please let us know so we can investigat...

Re: Help needed: palette out of reach

I’m sorry but my first reply gave bad and incomplete advice. In diagnosing the problem where Nisus Writer fails to ensure palettes are on screen, I realized that the palette origins are stored separately in a local settings file that is NOT in the sync settings folder. The reason is that users might...

Re: Window objects

Philip is right: you can programmatically position document windows using the Nisus macro language, but not palette windows. Macros have no access to palettes.

Re: Help needed: palette out of reach

I'm sorry you're having trouble with an out of view palette. This is something Nisus Writer shouldn't allow, and I'm surprised to hear this: Quitting and relaunching NWP doesn't help. I consider that a bug and we'll take a look. Nisus Writer should force the palettes to be accessible on screen durin...

Re: Gutter Width Slider in Fullscreen Mode

Hello Michael: I'm sorry you're having trouble with the Full Screen gutter width slider. It looks like the slider is working incorrectly. It will adjust the gutter, but only after a delay. You can force an update of the gutter if you trigger certain other UI updates, eg: zoom the text in or out, sho...

Re: erratic mouse

This is a problem that was reported to us once before, a long time ago, for version 2.x. The cause of the problem did not lie with Nisus Writer itself, but rather seemed to be triggered by an external monitor (ie: an extra screen). Do you have such a setup?

Re: Permissions error in running macro

The problem here is sandboxing . Basically the system (macOS) denies Nisus Writer and your macros access to any files, unless you first interact with them naturally (eg: using a file dialog). You can fix the problem by adding code to your macro that ensures access to the file: $filePath = "/Users/vi...

Re: wonky font palette

Thanks for your feedback, but I'm not sure I understand. I'd like to learn more so we can address this, if there's a problem here. When you say "push the fonts out of view" what do you mean exactly? How is it that the fonts are no longer visible? Perhaps you could post a screenshot (or send one to u...

Re: Sudden reversion to Polish

As Peter said, it sounds like you're using version 2.x and accidentally changed your Language preferences so the "Interface Language" is now Polish. You'll want to change it back to English, then quit and relaunch Nisus Writer:

How do I use Nisus Writer Pro 3 alongside version 2?

In some situations you might want to use both Nisus Writer Pro version 3 and version 2. Perhaps if you want to evaluate version 3 before you purchase an upgrade from version 2. Using two versions of Nisus Writer at the same time is possible and relatively easy. The quick overview is that you just ne...

But it would be nice if Nisus could have the label display "Start at" in the first section, instead of the greyed out "restart".
That's a very good idea, thanks Philip! I'll file it as a potential improvement.

Re: Where Is the Upgrade Package?

Basically what Vance said is true, but to reiterate and perhaps clarify: 1. The Nisus Writer Pro 3 archive or installer (.zip or .pkg) is very likely in your Downloads folder. But that depends on your web browser and settings. You might also look in the Trash or Desktop. 2. If you select Nisus Write...

Re: List formatting

Those are good and clever ideas, thanks Philip! To build off Philip's contributions, I'd probably adjust the macro a bit, so it's not so specific to any particular paragraph style. I could imagine myself wanting to turn off a list item's underline for other styles (eg: Heading 2, etc). I'll attach a...
