How do I search for text formatting?

Users often ask us how they can search for text using certain formatting. Some example tasks: 1. Change all text using the Times New Roman font to use the Arial font instead. 2. Skim through a document looking for any text using a particular heading style. 3. Select all text using a particular chara...

Re: Word underline again

All the more unfortunate for it produced a fine line and not th thick line offered at first by Nisus for any underlining How thick a line is shown for any particular text underline is controlled by the font. The macro and Nisus Writer itself have no control over the underline thickness. If you want...

Re: Up and down arrows reversed in menu?

This does appear to be a bug. The up/down arrow shapes are incorrectly inverted in my menu as well. I'll file a bug report on this, thanks!

Re: How many users in the license?

Our official policy is that one license key allows one user (one person) to use Nisus Writer. That single key can be used on multiple computers (eg: a desktop and a laptop) so long as it's just a single person using the software. So to answer your question: technically two license keys would be requ...

Re: Section Management

Welcome to Nisus Writer, and to our forums! I'm glad to hear you're generally pleased so far. As to your questions: 1. The Navigator sidebar will allow you to rearrange sections, assuming you begin the relevant sections with a top-level TOC entry. If you drag-drop a TOC entry all its corresponding c...

Re: How to cleanup a history stored file

Oh, one other tip: I see your images are using the TIFF file format. That's a lossless image format that tends to use a lot of space. Can you switch to a different image format?

Re: How to cleanup a history stored file

As explained in the FAQ on image sizes it is not unexpected to see a file size that's about twice as large as all images. The FAQ goes into detail about this, but basically RTF is inefficient. The quickest solution is to switch to a file format like Nisus Compressed RTF (aka ZRTF).

Re: Hardware Reqs NW 3 vs 2.1

There are no official hardware requirements for Nisus Writer Pro version 3. However, we did increase the system requirements. Nisus Writer Pro 3 now requires macOS 10.11 or later. If Nisus Writer Pro version 2 is speedy on your older Mac, you should experience that version 3 is also speedy. We didn'...

Re: Theming or using Dark Mode

That's right, Nisus Writer already allows the user to choose separate custom colors for Full Screen mode. I thought I'd write a short AppleScript script to do the job of swapping the plist files for different color preferences ... But I'm afraid it didn't work The path you quoted is not correct. Tha...

Re: Keyboard Shortcut for Special Characters?

While you've mentioned QuickFix's Martin, can I ask about a feature from Word I miss? THat's an automatic fix for two capitals at the beginning of a word or sentence I'll see about adding or upvoting that feature in our issue tracker. Thanks for the suggestion! Re: Upgrading Files

Microsoft Word does indeed have excellent support for RTF files. If you have a set of RTF files saved by any version of Nisus Writer Pro then it's no problem to leave them as-is for Word. All document features should come through nicely, eg: text, formatting, comments, styles, tracked changes, etc. ...

Re: Happy New Year and Style Library

Hello and Happy New Year Yohanan! I'm sorry you're frustrated by the location of your style library, glossaries, and templates. The path you gave is indeed quite strange: For the Nisus New File I am going to edit. . . it is found in Nisus Documents/Glossaries/Glossaries/Glossaries/Templates You shou...
