Re: Word documents. Grrr!

Heh! Perhaps the machine gun would be the best option to train clients not to embed graphics in their Word documents. I'm not sure what it is about MS Office or the people that use it that, when I ask them to send me a JPEG, the place it in a Word document and send me that? I mean, why not just send...

Re: Word documents. Grrr!

Mmm, machine gun. :D

I've remembered to upload now. Email duly sent.

I'd be interested in any results, but it's not essential to my daily existence.

Cheers

Re: Word documents. Grrr!

Which version of Word was your file produced on? Do you know? 'Fraid I don't, but I'd hazard a guess at a fairly recent version for Windows. I could probably check when I get back to the office by looking at the Info panel in the Finder. Martin, while I'd love to have a few days relaxing, today saw...

Re: Word documents. Grrr!

Thanks Martin.

Sadly the file is at my office, and I'm not now there until Monday.

I'm sure it can wait, though.

Word documents. Grrr!

I've got the latest NWE update, and (finally) I'm up to date with the Mac OS, but I'm increasingly coming across MS Word documents from PC users that cause NWE and TextEdit to spit out their dummies*. I think it's caused by silly clients who insist on embedding humungous images in their documents. I...

You do realise that if you Command-click the pill button, it will cycle through all the various sizes of buttons, buttons with text, text only settings? I tend to work with the toolbar set to small text only, and it suits me well. Top Tip: this cycling through toolbar sizes trick works in every app ...

Under the Nisus Help menu on the extreme right there is a Send Feedback option. I know from experience that the guys at Nisus like to hear from users of their products, and that if you can send copies of the Word files at the same time they can use them to test with. And that makes NWE better for al...

Please make 2.7 work. Don't give us the new features. Let us decide on those separately. It's the right thing to do. It may well be the right thing to do. However, there may be various factors at play here. For a start, Nisus have put a lot of time and resources into providing a Pro version (someth...

Re: agreed

But this situation feels a bit dodgy to me. Others might disagree, of course. This has been covered in other topics, but I don't think it's dodgy. I bought NWE1, and I don't remember paying for upgrades until now. That's over three years that I can recall. (Anything further back is beginning to bec...

I have to say I think I agree. While upgrading and new features are generally worth paying for, if NWE 2.7 works more than adequately for folk (including me) there's no real compulsion to move upwards. It would be great if the Nisus guys could make 2.7 Leopard compatible. I use the app every day, an...

It's not upsetting me. I'm not moving to Leopard until Apple fix the UI bugs like broken Dock and transparent menu bar. In fact, if I didn't need to update at some point - for some of my work I'd require Leopard for testing and screen-shotting - I'd probably skip 10.5 and wait for 10.6.

I just want the product I paid for to work properly and for Nisus to act like any other responsible software company and fix the bugs in its product for free. Nisus did just that right through version 2. Each new release contained bug fixes and new features. I do not think that being asked to pay a...

Nisus are blithely driving themselves into a brick wall here by not supporting loyal customers, especially bearing in mind the serious competition from Apple. In fact, their timing couldn't have been worse, bearing in mind iWorks 08 has just been released. I'm happy to pay to upgrade, especially si...

I just tried loads of combinations, but none was recognised. I think the PowerBook will need to be started after all.

Thanks for the link, though.
