No, I've tried selecting all, resetting options, new files, everything. I still get a reversion to US English. Jenni, 1: Have you edited your Nisus New File and made sure that that is set for British English? If not, any new file will open up as American English. 2: Any file that you open in NWP th...

Re: Opening a MsW attachment - not very correct!

I had an email today with 2 attachments. One was a 2 paged doc in the shape of a questionary with small boxes to manually check once in the printed paper-form. On opening the document it is presented as a one-sided doc and there are no boxes to be seen. Checked the same file in MsW. Not very outsta...

Incidentally, you don't have to double click and drag. If you double click the first word you want to select, hold down the shift key and click the last word you want to select, everything up to that point, including the entire last word will be selected. I prefer that to dragging.

Don't worry, I bet the images are still there. If you don't have any applications that can open the ".doc" files properly, you could download OpenOffice. Or if you like, send the files to me and I'll convert them for you. Please archive/zip the files before you send them, thanks. http://n...

Table alignment ...

Wow ... there I've been, cursing and swearing for months because docs that I get from colleagues created in various flavours of Chinese Weird for Windo$e come with tables that are randomly aligned outside the left margin of the page, so I have to use NeoWriter if I'm to see what's in the leftmost co...

The tools drawer is currently too limiting. It is nice as space-saver, but creates an obstruction to better ease-of-use by lumping all controls into the drawer "scheme". Users should be able to see more tools if they wish. Having to click tabs to switch "palettes" in the tools d...

This looks like a bug. Besides splitting up your document for printing purposes I'm not sure there's any way around it. I'll have us take a look at the problem, thanks. This maybe a silly question, but what happens if you export your document as a PDF ... does it preserve the page orientations you ...

Re: Table in Landscape??

I am unable to find how to generate a full-page table in landscape while the rest of the multi-page paper is portrait. Can it be done, and if so, how :? :? :? javascript:emoticon(':?') zipk I haven't tried, so I don't know if this is possible, but if you create a new section, can you set it to land...

Re: Line above word

Many thanks. If you open the Character Palette, under phonetic symbols you can find "combining macron" which will put a macron over a single letter. If you then look in the related character pane, next to combining macron is "combining overline" ... that does the same thing but ...

Re: numbered headings exported to Word: weird brackets

I've been trying out NWP and I seem to have a problem with numbered headings in .rtf or .doc files. I assigned 'Headings' list style to some headings (levels 2 and 3) so that they were auto-numbered, like this: 1. Section 1.1. Subsection Then I saved the file (as rtf, and later as doc, with identic...

This is standard behavior for native OSX applications. Pressing Option/Alt and "i" (or "e", etc) is called a "dead key", and is waiting for you to enter another character. Once you do so the dead key will be combined with that second character (if possible). An example...

We use Abiconvert to handle translation of ".doc" files. Don't let the warnings concern you- as long as your document looks fine, there's no problem. Martin, that's really interesting ... though of no particular importance to me, as long as they convert OK. But tell me, does TextEdit also...
