Nisus,

I'm going to push this post back to the top of the list and give you another chance to answer it.

gke,

I'm not so sure I'd judge the capabilities of Pages by the comments you read in a forum devoted to evangelists for a competing product.

Are you guys working on (and making any progress with) the hanging-indent and overlapping printing bugs?

Re: Printing Problem With 2.1.1

Printing problems like this are usually due to printer driver issues, what printer brand/model are you using? What release of OS X? Have you checked to see if there is a newer printer driver version available for your printer? I'm using an HP Deskjet 5650 with the most current driver; OS X 10.3.7 D...

Goodbye, Nisus

With all the problems I've had with the program, and my vow to never use it again, I relented. I took a chapter I created with a simple text editor, copied and pasted the text into NWE 2.1.1, and printed it out. The first line of almost every page had overlapping printing on it -- the same problem y...

I'm running 10.3.7. Oddly, I experience this problem only with NWE. This morning I opened (in 2.1.1) an 80-page doc I'd created in 2.0. When I posted this topic, I thought the indents occurred only on a few pages at the beginning. But after looking through the entire doc, they're all over the place....

Still plagued by indents

I went back and opened in 2.1.1 a doc I'd created with NWX 2.0. Surprisingly, almost every paragraph of the first two pages had the last line indented, which is one of many problems I had with 2.0. I fixed the paragraphs, saved the doc, then quit. When I reopened it, the indented paragraphs were bac...

I've never heard of this. Are you saying it appears that way on the screen or in your printouts? If it's happening on the printouts, and you're on deadline, I'd open your document in NWE 1.1.2 and print it from there. If you don't have a copy, try pasting it in to some other word processor and try t...

And as with all software development, we're watching the same process that OS X went through: 1) make it work, 2) make it work fast, 3) add features. We're at the end of step 2 and moving into step 3, if Charles's blog entry about 2.1.1 is any indication. Scott, That's just the point. For many of u...

From reading the posts so far, I think I understand the pro's and con's. My personal feeling is that a good company communicates with its customers. The key word here is "customers," and not the unwashed masses who drop by the web site because they have nothing better to do. Whether or not...

Todd, I'm not sure how much of your formatting TextEdit strips out, but that solution seems kludgier than is necessary. If you're unwilling to break your manuscript down into individual chapter files for use in NWE 2.1, open your one large file in NWE 1.1.2. It will keep all your existing formatting...

I think your VCR analogy is interesting, but not entirely appropriate. Back in the dark ages of consumer electronics, if you wanted to be an early adopter of a VCR, you paid (as you rightly observed) over $1000 and got a clunky machine with switches you had to stand on in order to flip. There were v...

Todd, Those are strong words for a guy who drank the Kool-Aid. But they're not unreasonable words. The thing I'm resigned to believing about NWE is that it's going to take a huge amount of patience and faith to remain a user. And, considering what I've experienced with NWE, I'm not entirely sure why...
