Re: Once again: Hebrew with Nisus

It seems to me rather curious: When I open an old Nisus file (I think created with a previous version of NWE) everything is working well: The hebrew characters remain when the file is opened in NeoOffice or Word for Windows. But the new files, created with NWP (latest version), make such problems (G...

Re: Once again: Hebrew with Nisus

I do not know whether I understood everything but this solution seems to me a bit too complicated: First, in previous versions of NWP and NWE this problem did not occur. I could open Nisus-files with Word for Windows without any problem. Second, If I change the language to hebrew or greek I change t...

Re: Once again: Hebrew with Nisus

It's the same with all unicode-fonts I used (Ezra SIL, Cardo etc.).
By the way: The problem did NOT occur in previous versions of NWP and NWE!

Re: Once again: Hebrew with Nisus

Martin, how - then - can I change the paragraph style without altering the font for Hebrew? I think my two questions are related: changing of any hebrew font to Times (which is not a goog choice for vocalized hebrew) when applying a new paragraph on the one side and all hebrew characters are gone wh...

Once again: Hebrew with Nisus

Once again problems with hebrew in Nisus Writer Pro: 1) If I open a Nisus file with NeoOffice, OpenOffice (Win) or Word for Windows all hebrew characters unfortunately are lost. Instead of hebrew there are "normal" latin characters. This is curious because I use Unicode characters (SBL Heb...

Re: Language button and language switching

Martin, thank you very much for the clarification. Now I begin to understand how paragraph styles work... The problem with greek and hebrew letters is easy to describebut difficult to solve: If there is a paragraph with greek and hebrew letters in Times New Roman, some letters merge into one another...

Re: Language button and language switching

Thanks a lot for your help! Changing of languages works now properly (and NOW - afterwards - I understand the manual). One problem remains (my third point): Reformatting a paragraph to Times New Roman (!) - e.g. to Normal - causes changing of all hebrew and greek characters to Times NR. The effect i...

Language button and language switching

There occured some problems that have to do with switching languages in NWP: 1) There are three language buttons that are not synchronized. I do not understand the difference (one on the top of the document window, one on the bottom, the third on in the upper status bar). If I choose one of the two ...

Hebrew letters and numbers

There is still a problem when mixing hebrew and english text: If I type a hebrew word immediately followed by a number (or a punctuation mark) the order of hebrew words and numbers changes. Nothing happens when typing normal (english) letters after hebrew letters. There is a paragraph in the manual ...

Hi, thf, I know quite well that hyphenation in word is not perfect. But Nisus Writer Pro has NO hyphenation at all (only one of three hyphens in German are set correctly). But the most important of all: There is no way in NWPro to set hyphens manually (as in word and other wordprocessors for Mac). I...

Anne, as Swiss woman you should know that nearly all German (and Swiss as well) publishers produce books - and I mean academic books like dissertations or "Habilitationsschriften" or other monographs - from a camera-ready copy made by the author himself. All major academic series (e.g. pub...

I do not agree with Anne Cuneo. If you have to produce a book for print - I mean a camera-ready copy - you need hyphenation. A text with justification looks pretty awful. There is no German publisher that acceppts texts without hyphenation. I produced books with LATEX and with NotaBene. LATEX is pha...

Yes, I am sure... Of course I am writing with the German flag. But it's not a problem of Apple and its (bad) hyphenation alone. Word 2004 HAS a good hyphenation because it has its own hyphenation system, Mellel has as well, though hyphenation in Mellel is not as good as in Word but much better than ...

The hyphenation in German is really bad. The consequence is clear: I am not able to create printer ready copies with NW Pro. Good hyphenation is THE MOST IMPORTANT feature for writing and publishing academic texts - in a German language context. NWPro is a nice wordprocessor for small papers but not...
