Re: Yosemite forever

Another update: I upgraded to High Sierra. Adobe Creative Suite CS6 continue to work fine, even if you have to check the fonts again. There is some more glitch (for example, Illustrator insists to warn you that it has reset the Color Profile), but nothing too annoying. HS is a refinement of Sierra, ...

Re: iOS integration

The best way I've found, to edit NWP documents under iOS, is to export to a DOCX file, open it in Pages for Mac, save it in iCloud, and edit it in Pages for iOS. When back on the Mac, export to DOCX from Pages, and reopen it with NWP. If you don't have Pages for Mac installed, just exchange the DOCX...

Re: text and translation on facing pages

I've not tried with extensive documents, but wouldn't a pair of parallel text frame chains do the same work as a DTP program? You can find the text frame commands under the Shape menu. At first sight, they look a lot like the text frames in any DTP program.

As far as I know, localizations will come at a later date.

In the Navigator pane, with the ToC shown, I can both expand/collapse the various levels, and drag the lower levels together with the parent ones.

Re: NWP 3: Great news!

Nisus continues to be an indispensable tool for heavy word processing. The new features (some of which asked by the users in the past) make it even more pleasant to use. It's an evolutionary upgrade, but it's good evolution.

It's probably a subtle way to invite us to stop using them.

Re: Yosemite forever

A couple updates on my situation regarding software compatibility. - Adobe Creative Suite CS6 works (nearly) perfectly under Sierra. Better than under Yosemite. You must however be sure there are no issues with the fonts. No corrupted fonts, no duplicates, nothing that can interfere with CS6. I say ...

Re: Nisus Writer as a heavy text processing tool

Martin, NWP is the real "professional" wordprocessor. It is both a generic and a specialized tool, all in the same box. You can really have your work done with it!

Nisus Writer as a heavy text processing tool

Hi, Usually, you describe a word processor's advantages for how comfortable and elegant it is, when writing journals, novels, dissertations or even office reports. Nisus has all these advantages. However, I can often discover how well it can do in more trivial tasks, that is carpentering and plumbin...

Re: Book length doc with lots of graphics -- recommendations

I've not tried (and can't try at the moment), but I would explore with the RTFD file format on Nisus. Its structure is similar to the one of Pages, that is, an RTF file and a directory containing the illustrations as external files. This should be at the same time faster and more reliable. Again, I'...

Re: NW Pro and the iPad Pro Revisited

I wouldn't find, having to use the DOCX conversion for exchange, a real problem. At least, not for those who are already exchanging data between iWork and Office. The only thing I would like to see in NWP is a transparent way of doing the conversion and sending the converted file, in a single step. ...

Re: NW Pro and the iPad Pro Revisited

I've found that exporting to DOCX from Nisus and Pages is a solid way to exchange even complex documents. Shame this is not immediately evident.

Re: Em dash short cut

I don't know if it is my keyboard layout, or a general behaviour, but my hyphen/minus (-) key enters the following signs:

- Normal: hyphen/minus (-)
- Opt-key: en-dash (–)
- Shift-Opt-key): em-dash (—)

Re: NWP and iOS: About Back&Forth-ing

Here is what I tried with success: 1) From NWP, export to DOCX, then send the document to the iPad (via mail or Dropbox, or the like). 2) On the iPad, open the document with Pages. 3) Do your edits. 4) From Pages, send the document via mail in Word (DOCX) format. 5) When receiving the mail message o...
