Re: What's happened to …

It's probably a subtle way to invite us to stop using them.

Re: Yosemite forever

A couple updates on my situation regarding software compatibility. - Adobe Creative Suite CS6 works (nearly) perfectly under Sierra. Better than under Yosemite. You must however be sure there are no issues with the fonts. No corrupted fonts, no duplicates, nothing that can interfere with CS6. I say ...

Re: Nisus Writer as a heavy text processing tool

Martin, NWP is the real "professional" wordprocessor. It is both a generic and a specialized tool, all in the same box. You can really have your work done with it!

Nisus Writer as a heavy text processing tool

Hi, Usually, you describe a word processor's advantages for how comfortable and elegant it is, when writing journals, novels, dissertations or even office reports. Nisus has all these advantages. However, I can often discover how well it can do in more trivial tasks, that is carpentering and plumbin...

Re: Book length doc with lots of graphics -- recommendations

I've not tried (and can't try at the moment), but I would explore with the RTFD file format on Nisus. Its structure is similar to the one of Pages, that is, an RTF file and a directory containing the illustrations as external files. This should be at the same time faster and more reliable. Again, I'...

Re: NW Pro and the iPad Pro Revisited

I wouldn't find, having to use the DOCX conversion for exchange, a real problem. At least, not for those who are already exchanging data between iWork and Office. The only thing I would like to see in NWP is a transparent way of doing the conversion and sending the converted file, in a single step. ...

Re: NW Pro and the iPad Pro Revisited

I've found that exporting to DOCX from Nisus and Pages is a solid way to exchange even complex documents. Shame this is not immediately evident.

Re: Em dash short cut

I don't know if it is my keyboard layout, or a general behaviour, but my hyphen/minus (-) key enters the following signs:

- Normal: hyphen/minus (-)
- Opt-key: en-dash (–)
- Shift-Opt-key): em-dash (—)

Re: NWP and iOS: About Back&Forth-ing

Here is what I tried with success: 1) From NWP, export to DOCX, then send the document to the iPad (via mail or Dropbox, or the like). 2) On the iPad, open the document with Pages. 3) Do your edits. 4) From Pages, send the document via mail in Word (DOCX) format. 5) When receiving the mail message o...

Re: Export to RTF issues

As a side note, I wouldn't send an editable document to the printer, but a PDF file (if you can choose, with embedded fonts). You will be sure they will print exactly what you sent them.

Re: NWP on iPad?

If you export your document as a DOCX, Pages on the iPad should be able to read it. Tables are usually converted correctly, if not too complicate.

Yosemite forever

Hi, I don't know how many of us are stuck in Yosemite (nearly) forever. There is software I use for my main job, that will not work under El Capitan and work very bad under Sierra. In the meantime, some software I use for my personal activities, or side projects, no longer supports Yosemite. I'm liv...

Re: Facelift?

As time goes on, Nisus 3D icons, ruler and drawer contours are looking more and more alien to the Mac user interface. I wouldn't dislike they flatten them out a bit, in the same way Scrivener did (nothing radical, just a refresh). There would be no need for a complete overhaul, just an update to the...

Re: Default file format choice

Apart for Apple Pages, I believe that all word processors read RTF, so it should be a very safe choice. The next minor release of Nisus should even make the file format more solid than ever.

Re: Long delays on "Open": display of TOC

Generating a ToC of this huge document is slow by nature, due to the live process going on. My suggestion is to break the document into several shorter documents, each one with its own shorter ToC, save them into the same folder, and do your search by using the Finder's search function to locate the...
