Re: Please Advise : Reports from a Database

Martin, Thank you for your reply. The reason I am looking at using Applescript is that it is possible to include applescripts inside a RealBasic application which means (I hope) that I should be able to action a script from an application button and use NWP as a report generator for my database. At ...

Re: Please Advise : Reports from a Database

Martin et al, I am trying to automate my report generator and would like to create a document in NWP using Applescript. I have managed to create a new document, then add some text and then insert a table. I am now stuck as I have not found a method of writing text to the cells of the table. My scrip...

Re: Please Advise : Reports from a Database

Martin, Thanks for your reply. Since I first posted I have discovered that NWP "prefers" Tab separated files and that these convert into tables rather well. I have rewritten my export code to export the data with Tab characters, now all I have to do is learn how to write NWP macros. thanks...

Please Advise : Reports from a Database

Hi, I have a small database application written in Realbasic. One problem is with the application (and RealBasic) is that producing reports is difficult. However, it is simple to produce a text file and I have been experimenting with CSV files. I would like to be able to import these CSV files into ...

Re: Desired NWP1.2 Features

I need a WP that allows me to write a document in portrait format but include pages in landscape within the document. Nisus allows this but there is a bug when printing which means that it does not work. The landscape pages often contain tables that span many pages, the ability to specify a header r...

A book About Perl ?

I have just purchased NWP and I think that I might wish to create some scripts (Applescript, Macro or Perl) sometime. I know nothing of Perl but notice that Martin uses it in some of his scripts. Amazon list many books about Perl so which should I buy?

Setting Styles based on attributes

Hi All, I have just started to use Scrivener to put my document/s together and I am looking for a Wp to act as the application to "publish" the final copy, with headers and footers page numbers etc. The documents I am writing are computer test scripts and have three or four "style&quo...

Thank you for the replies - I have no idea what a "floating text box" but it does seem that these are causing the problem. Is there any method (work flow) of converting the document into a format that may be read by Nisus? I guess that this could be a question for a MS Word forum. Thanks S...

Problem with MS Word import (.RTF)

Hi, I'm looking for an application that will enable me to stop using MS word. At present I have trial versions of iWork Pages, Mellel and Nisus Writer Pro installed to see how they handle documents originated by MS Word. I have one such document that opens in MS Word X with seven A4 pages but that o...

Hi (again), I've down loaded the public beta and have been changing the tiered list ending as described above. It seems to be working except that at level 9 only the first four character groups are displayed in the edit box - I have not managed to scroll down to the last character group; it could be...

Thanks for all the replies: I'm glad that it was not an obvious switch to remove the final stop.

Numbered Lists - UK legal Style

I have been experimenting with the demo version and wish to create a list style that follows the UK convention of legal numbering e.g. 1 para one 1.1 Sub para 1 1.2 Sub para 2 2 para two 2.1 sub para 2 2.1.1 sub sub para Unfortunately I have not found a way of preventing the final stop from occuring...
