FYI: The 2.1.3 update fixed the issue for me. I guess it had to do with list styles moving between different-language Nisus / Word installations?
At any rate: consider done, and closed. Cheers.

Hi Martin,
did you guys find anything? Haven’t heard back from you, but as my mail server has been acting up for a while now your reply might have been lost.
Cheers,

Re: NWP 2.1.1 – export to .doc (binary) and .docx faulty?
Do you mean that using the "Save As" menu in Nisus Writer Pro (NWP) — where a file is saved with the .doc file extension, but internally contains RTF data — incorrectly opens in Word Pad on Windows? That would be unfortunate, and is something I've not myself seen. I’ve seen it a couple of...

Re: NWP 2.1.1 – export to .doc (binary) and .docx faulty?
Hi Martin, I’ll send you guys an example file over the week-end. :) Main reason I need to export to binary doc / docx: I sometimes have customers who are not well-versed with file formats, using wonky (Windows) installations, resulting in both RTF and renamed .DOC to open in Word Pad rather than Wor...

NWP 2.1.1 – export to .doc (binary) and .docx faulty?
Hi there, when exporting longish RTF documents as .doc (binary) or .docx, NWP 2.1.1 produces either corrupt files or files stripped of any comments and tracked changes for me. 500 KB RTF documents result in 15-100 KB Word docs. Neither Word, LibreOffice, nor Nisus can correctly open affected doc/doc...

Re: Why does the NWP produce a 128% zoom page by default?
128% is no longer the default- I believe we choose a default window size that is based on your screen. Offhand I don't know why we used to have 128% as the default zoom. Information lost to the sands of time. Well, 96 dpi used to be sort-of a standard for TFTs and the like a couple of years ago (sa...

Re: New Word translator works well with Comments
Yup, this makes me very happy, too. :) Most of my editors and customers a) use Word for the editing process, b) use comments and track changes, and c) don’t grasp the concept of RTF being able to be opened in Word, rather than Wordpad or TextEdit … So this is a boon, indeed! Thanks, Nisus! Cheers, -...

Re: thinking of switching from Mellel
Hi mbywater, I agree with your posting, which might not be too surprising considering I dabbled in LaTeX for a while (while still on Linux), worked as a content editor using (X)HTML, and bought Mellel pretty quickly after receiving my Mac. 2006, no Nisus Writer Pro as there is today … you get the id...

Re: Desired NWP1.2 Features
2) As an alternative to multiple windows per document (if this is a pain to implement) consider allowing opening multiple copies of the same document, with 2nd & later copies open as read-only. I would bet that most users only need to edit one portion of a doc. at once, even if they want to ref...

Re: What to do about Word's track changes feature?
Sorry for digging up this rather old thread, but what’s the official word on Track Changes in NWP? As is right now, I send in RTFs to my editor and can work with the comments she sends me back, but the other changes she did using “Track Changes” … well. Unfortunately, Pages doesn’t display either (c...

Re: .odt support in NWP 1.1
Hi Geoff,
that’s exactly the way I’ve dealt with ODT up to now. But I was wondering, prior to converting some 30-50 documents (stuff I wrote on Linux) whether NWP could deal with the docs as-is.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll stick to the guns, then.

Re: .odt support in NWP 1.1
Thanks for the hint to the newsletter, I’ve subscribed now. :) Anybody for the second part of my question? How well does ODT support work with Nisus? I wouldn’t need much, just some manuscripts (i. e. no tables, not images, no figures) to be read and edited, including headers and footers … Cheers, -...

.odt support in NWP 1.1
Hi there, from the product page: Pro will also read Word (.doc, .docx), Word Perfect, Open Document (.odt) and AbiWord documents. Am I right to assume that Open Document support is only available on Leopard? At any rate, NWP doesn’t open my ODT documents on Tiger. Could anybody who got .odt support ...
