I had reported this problem via the NWE feedback mechanism and Mark Hurvitz reports that it has been duplicated and is being worked on. Here is Mark's reply and my original report: On Dec 10, 2004, at 4:31 PM, Mark Hurvitz wrote: rwa1, I'm sorry you experience difficulties with Nisus Writer Express....

Yes, tabs are still broken in 2.1.1

While I'm not having the same trouble you are exactly, tabs have not worked correctly for me in any iteration of NWE 2.x. The problem I've noted, and reported via the bug reporting sheet and in this forum, is that tabs applied to styles are not saved as part of the style when the document is saved. ...

PowerFind bugs in 2.1

First, v. 2.1 is much improved. As someone else said, I now feel like I can recommend NWE as the word processor for the rest of us! PowerFind still seems buggy, however. For example, I have a list with three numbers each followed by a period and a tab: 1. Point 1 here 2. Point 2 here 3. Point 3 here...

the latest version of BBEdit has this feature, but it just lists the file name -- doesn't show page views. It is very useful, particularly when you are doing a batch grep find and replace or other text processing. One thing NWE could do which would be a part way solution would be to have a drop down...

and grep is slow, too

Speaking of slow.... I hope some effort is being put into PowerFind(Pro) to speed it up. I have a document with ~1862 lines in it that I simply wanted to delete the one or more spaces at the beginning of a line. Using PowerfindPro (^\s+) on this document took a full minute on a 1 Ghz PowerBook G4. T...

I'm glad to hear it's on the list as I, too, miss this functionality that was in NW Classic.

Re: Zapf and Other DingBats

Two things don’t compute here: (1) TextEdit is a native application, yet there is no Special Characters menu item. Yes it does. Look under the Edit menu. I do not have a Special Characters menu item under Edit (or anywhere else) in either TextEdit or NWE. Sorry, hatchmo is right: for some of us it ...

Well, hmm... I have the flag menu (the one set in the International pane of the System Preferences turned off) because my menu bar is already cluttered enough. I just turned it back on, and then launched NWE to experiment with this issue and it still doesn't appear in the edit menu. Oh well. I still...

That's odd, I'm running 10.3.5 and Special Characters item simply doesn't exist, either in the NWE Edit menu or anywhere else?!

I don't have a Special Characters menu item under the Edit Menu or anywhere else that I can see in NWE 2.0.1. It sounds from Charles' post that this brings up the MacOS X characters palette. Under what conditions is this menu choice available?
