Now it works...

Hi, all,

I rebooted the system, and now Nisus can read all the .doc files which it errored on several hours ago. I can still send a .doc file for feedback if it's helpful, but whatever the problem was, a reboot seems to have cleared it up — very strange, and sorry to clutter the bandwidth here.

I can send a file

Sure, I'll send a file; where should I send it?

Doc files "not recognized" in NWE 2.7

I've got a similar problem with NWE on my Intel Mac Mini (Core Duo). When I try to open a .doc file using the File / Open in NWE, here's the message I get: "The format of the file 'sample.doc' is not recognized. Would you like to open it as plain text?" Very strange! It worked until recently; it mig...

Re: too many footnotes?

I've found that the following bug still appears for me in 2.6FC1... Insert a footnote which causes a paragraph to be broken up, and later on in the document, all the text disappears. Hit delete immediately prior to the pages of white space, and the text reappears. Seems like a drawing bug that is ho...

Strange scrolling behavior

I'm experiencing a very strange behavior in NWE 2.5. I'm editing a file (with endnotes) and the following may occur: I'm writing on some page several pages after the first, i.e. page 3 or 4, and when I stop typing and move the mouse, NWE dumps me back to the first page. If I type again, I'm returned...

Comments please

I second the request for commenting / note features. If Nisus could read / write the comments that Word and OpenOffice.Org can put in .rtf and .doc files, I could delete Word from my hard drive. As it is, since I do a lot of work editing / revising other people's documents, these commenting function...

Both would be just excellent

I agree that support for both would be excellent. The BBEdit-like panel, which shows short summaries of everything you download, is particularly useful for working with a very long document, such as an academic thesis, or with notes, i.e. fieldnotes, meeting notes, class notes. It is an invaluable t...

"Find All" in NWE 2

Hi, folks! Anybody know how to get "find all" back on the tool drawer like it was in 1.x? It had a BBEdit-style listing of every item it found (a little browser-like listing in the tool drawer), which was *extremely* useful. Now "find all" just highlights the various instances of phrase X in my docu...

OOo would be very handy!

Supporting OOo WP format (.sxw, which falls under the broader rubric of XML, correct?) would be a fantastic boon for me, and for anyone else who uses Linux as well as OS X. It's pretty robust compared to RTF (including the RTF generated by NWE, which OOo does not always render properly; nor does Wor...

Nisus and OpenOffice.Org RTF files

Hi, folks. I've found that NWE, including the new 2.1, is quite unstable when opening OpenOffice.Org RTF files. Nisus software developers / testers, OOo is available for free for you to download and verify this for yoursefl! It becomes a problem for me, because my two main work environments are Linu...

NWE Crash Opening Openoffice doc w/ Footnotes

When I create a file with OpenOffice.org (Mac or Linux version, doesn't matter) with footnotes in it, and subsequently open that file in NWE 2.0.1, I find the following behaviour dependent on the file format I save it in with OOo: 1) Save it as RTF with OpenOffice. When I open it in Nisus, the file ...
